Very odd considering the rumor about him being Bullseye for Daredevil. Do you agree with him, thou?

A lot of the modern action movies you see, Marvel comic sort of things, I just think that any guy could do it. I have no ambition. I could take my grandma and put her in a cape, and they’ll put her on a green screen and they’ll have stunt doubles come in and do all the action. Anybody can do it. They’re relying on stunt doubles, and green screen, and $200 million budgets, it’s all CGI created. To me, it’s not authentic.”

Very true, but the idea of practical effects versus CGI fest is not new. This is the slam for the "first" Star Wars movies and why people are creaming over Mad Max.

Big talk for a guy that just starred in an "action" movie with Melissa McCarthey.

I'm assuming you saying that Mad Max FR leaned more on the use of real effects, props and stunts, and not almost entirely on CGI, right? If so, I agree with you.

There was a ton CGI in Mad Max. You just didn't notice it - it has improved that much.

I agree there was use of it. I just know that it relied less on it than the superhero movies. Refreshing, actually.

Agreed. I'm still baffled by that opening scene in age of ultron. It looked like a cut scene from a video game.

The CGI has improved so much that it doesn't bother me. I'm very thankful to live at a time when movies look this good. Some of it can indeed look artificial, like the Star Wars prequels, but if used properly CGI is great. I think the Marvel movies use it well.

Statham is the same character in every movie and is incapable of altering his accent. Maybe he should be replaced with CGI.

Whatever. The whole reason he didn't take his shirt off during Fast 7 is bc he has gotten fat.

I like Statham flicks and all but the Transporter series, Crank series, Expendables series, and Furious 7 all may as well be comic book flicks with the large amount of CG, over the top stunt work, and cartoon like amount of damage he can take.

Dude has made a career out of being an action star in shitty, cheesy action movies. That is firing a gatlin gun from a glass house.

so he's mad that the movies that he is in don't have big budgets? shite on them all you want, they still print money when they make them. They could put a 800 million dollar budget on the next Avengers movie and still clear a billion.

quote:

To me, it’s not authentic.

frick him. Like getting a bunch of 60 year olds together to make a fricking action movie about them doing ridiculous shite is authentic? How about jumping a fricking supercar through two or three buildings? Not authentic either. Name something that Statham has done that is actually authentic.

All that said, I do agree with him to an extent but that is also the point of comic book movies. They aren't set in the real world with real world limitations.
