I'm about to buy a ticket to see this, but I was wondering if I should view it in 3D or not. For those that have seen it, is it better in 3D?

No. It added nothing to the movie and I only saw it in IMAX 3D because it was the only showing in the morning.

I saw it in 3D, only because I refused to sit in the front 3 rows and I wanted to see it THAT night...and it definitely didn't FEEL like 3D added anything to it.

Now Avatar was a 3D movie.
Gravity was a 3D movie.

R1 just needs a big screen IMO.

It wasn't intended to be viewed in 3D. They only made it 3D in post production. You should watch it the way it was intended 70mm IMAX

Looks like I'm in the same boat. Only the front row is open for the non-3D showing. Looks like 3D for me.

The 3D for R1 isn't overbearing and distracting, that's why I enjoyed it in 3D. It was pretty subtle as far as 3D goes.

Saw The Hobbit in 3d. Hated it. Felt disoriented the whole time.

Agree. Movie is made for viewing in 3D on the big screen. It is a terrible film outside that format.

Such a boring film.

I saw R1 in RDX.

Some of the space battle scenes are ridiculous in 3d.

No. I preferred it without the 3D.

I luv when people waste money on 3-D tickets. That being said, the movie isn't even good in 2-D.

I paid $1 more for 3D than for the non-3D showing. I'm not sure about you, but that $1 really didn't set me back much. And I'd gladly pay that $1 so I can sit in the middle of the theater instead of the front row. I'm sorry you're poor.

We'll agree to disagree. I thought the movie was great, and I'm not a Star Wars fan boy by any stretch. And like a poster above said, the 3D really didn't distract me from the movie, and I actually enjoyed it.

Not about being poor, it's about not wasting money on a gimmick. The question was is it better in 3-D, not is it worth it for a better seat. Glad you enjoyed it.

If you would have read the thread, you would have realized what transpired. So now we know 3 things about you:
1.) You're too poor to spend $1 extra on 3D
2.) You have trouble following written discourse
3.) You are not to be trusted when it comes to movie ratings

Enjoy your new year!
