Minor league DC and Marvel characters are getting all kinds of love these days. Why not go with a character that has already had some level of success both on the small and big screens? Swamp Thing.

The movies are cult classics.

The TV show ran for 72 episodes and was USA's top rated show at the time.

The costuming and look of the principal character are great.

It's dark. It gritty. It's violent. It's environmental. It can easily be filmed on the cheap in Louisiana.

It's the perfect option for the Netflix/CW era.

Why the frick not?

And, yes, it's on El Rey right now.

I could go for a Swamp Thing porn. Just banging teens and blowing algae loads all over them.

Was Alan Moore when he was one of the spirits of the earth incarnate?

Could be done well if made to honor the story's writing and not to just throw out another comic character.

What is your opinion on them giving Alien Nation a chance in a more fresher version?

My uncle rented that movie for me when I had the chicken pox and had to stay home from school.

It's still fricking awesome. And the female lead in the first movie had some great knockers.

It was a sign of the times that the effects and costuming got better with each film and reached the apex in the second season of the TV show.

ETA: Just started on El Rey right now.

I watched the TV show religiously on USA up all night.

No, Batman needs another two or three trilogies...

In all honesty, I'd love a new Swamp Thing movie. He's one of my favorite DC characters. DC needs to take more chances with they're other heroes. Look what Marvel was able to do with Groot special effects-wise.

Apparently, if Constantine had survived, Swamp Thing was going to be a recurring character since they are closely linked under the Vertigo imprint. Unfortunately, as good as Constantine was, it didn't make it.

Guillermo del Toro has said that there's still a script under development for "Dark Justice" floating around Warner Bros.

I re-read the entire Alan Moore run to kick off the Summer every year. It's just insanely awesome (and it introduces Constantine which is cool).
