I am!

I am a huge Peanuts fan. I watch the three holiday specials every year. I read the comics every week. I look forward to the balloons in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I watched the Saturday morning cartoons.

This movie looks good from the previews.

Nobody remembers the River Race one.
Or the Homecoming one.
Or the one where they go to France.

If the movie is half as good as any of those three, it's easily in the upper half of movies this year.

You won't ever get a Calvin and Hobbes movie as the creator (I am blanking on the name and too lazy to google) was extremely controlling of them. That is why there is no official licensed merchandise for them. If he would have been willing, Calvin and Hobbes could have been just as big a cultural phenom as Peanuts, instead they are just a cult classic. There is an awesome documentary about the guy (still too lazy to look up title, I saw it on Netflix)

Onto the Peanuts movie, my wife grew up watching the movies with her dad and badly wants to bring our daughter to see the movie. I'm not too excited for the movie because I am worried they are just trying to make money and that it will be nothing more than a Snoopy merchandise vehicle. So I will likely see it but I expect it to be horrible.

If Mr. Schultz had his way, you probably wouldn't have this Peanuts Movie. Until we see it, this movie is a tribute from the son and grandson to their late Father.

I loved this one.

When the chateau is on fire and Charlie Brown has to run down the road for help...well, it was an exciting time.

Peanuts forever.

This is what gives me hope about it being good. I think the Schultz family is very protective of his legacy, and they will (hopefully) not let anything happen that would diminish it.

In the "Making of A Charlie Brown Christmas" feature on the DVD, they say that the network did not like Linus quoting from Luke and asked for it to be removed. Schultz stood firm and said if that was pulled, he would scrap the entire production. Hopefully his family has the same resolve if the others want to move in a non-Peanuts direction.
