Kind of a boring character, but the interview was pretty interesting. One thing I found interesting about it was when the interviewer asked if people are underestimating the sparrows and faith militant because they've taken two queens now. His reply...

quote:

They are. "You are the one, we are the many." It's simply a question of numbers. But also, culturally, the Seven Kingdoms of Westeros are bound to this faith, so the Sparrows and the Faith Militant know they have the law on their side. Theirs is a deeply rooted ideology borne out of necessity for change. Someone has got to look after the impoverished, which they do: They feed them, they clothe them, they house them. This is one of reasons I have sympathy for Lancel and his cause. Although I don't agree with it, it's borne out of disparity. What they get is coming to them.

Anyone is welcome to post in this thread but please don't spoil the show for us Hodors. Thanks

I don't mind the Faith Militant. I just hate how they arrested Loras Tyrell. Book Loras would carve those clowns up like it was nothing.

Especially if the other BA Tyrell was around.

Loras in the show sucks royally...(and royalty).

I don't get why D&D turned him from a badass knight/kingsguard who happened to be gay into an extremely gay guy who happened to be a knight.

I suppose since they already had a lot of other BA fighters (Brienne, Bronn, etc) they needed more of a gay guy for story-line purposes and variety.

Not much to spoil at this point.

The FM is The Inquisition, and would lead the kingdom into the dark ages. They should be feared more than any single villain, and I'm glad that the show is depicting how crazy and dangerous the whole concept is.

Of all Cersei's blunders, giving religious people military authority is the queen of them all. It should be interesting to see how it plays out in the last two books.

He's not any less gay in the books. You just don't read about his sex scenes since he isn't a POV character.

While normally I would agree with you, in this case I don't. There's some weird shite going on from dragons, to Others, and all sorts of magic going on. While I haven't seen any of this out of the Seven, you have to feel like there is some there. I have a feeling they will need it going forward.

Honestly, I'd rather the Others than the FM. The Walkers at least give me death and nothingness. Religion is a cult of pain and suffering, and those who pretend to represent god are just hungry for power. That's all it ever was and all it ever will be.

Wow, hyperbole much?

Not interested in getting in a discussion over religion.

But putting that aside, who's to say the Other are less religiously motivated than the Faith Militant? Heck, they did participate in and apparently encouraged a type of "child sacrifice" or "child offering" from Craster.
