perhaps Disney should do a flick on what Luke has been up to...

There's a kid who played a younger version of Ford in another movie and looks just like him and can perform his mannerism pretty damn well. I forget his name

The others are too old to do a Shadows of The Empire movie with Dash Rendar (Lucas adopted it as canon), so a "5 years after Return of The Jedi" would be a great movie to do.

They won't do them because they can't shoehorn a "Catniss" into the story like they can for the new stuff. You have to have a 90 pound girl whipping the shite out of armored, military trained men in every movie these days.

Being on that planet in exile all those years and the way he looked at the end I'm guessing it would be like watching Phil from the first couple of episodes of "Last Man On Earth" but with Jedi powers.

Which I'd be down for

Wow, that's a scary close resemblance, if legit. All you'd need is a hairdresser and wardrobe, and maybe a little voice training.

In response to "they didn't use the Harrison Ford doppelganger", Stan is a more established actor. He's also under contract to Marvel, a Disney sub-property.

The problem that would arise for me is this- if possible, I'd greatly have preferred to have the more immediate Luke story (with the others in it), rather than TFA. As of now, we now know the eventual outcome of any Luke adventures, and they would risk being as non-engaging as the prequels.
You know the original crew survives (except possibly Lando), you know Han and Leia have a kid and then split, you know Luke fails in the Jedi training, and you know the Republic weakens and allows the First Order to form and gain strength.
All the little things in the film would be interesting, but there'd be no drama. Hell, I'd go so far as to say if they made it and Lando was included, he's a pretty definite casualty.

The story of "Shadows of the Empire" is no longer canon since Disney took over. The only thing that is canon from the story is the ship, Outrider, because it made a cameo in the Special Edition "New Hope." Rendar isn't even canon, but his ship is.

He was never shown, so he's not officially canon.

That is a major bummer.
