While it's not one of Pixar's best, it's an entertaining and fulfilling film.

And frick all y'all that say otherwise.

But this is from the studio that has made masterpiece after masterpiece. I don't think it's bad, it's just clearly not up to par with most of the rest of Pixar's library. It's only higher than Monster's University and its truly terrible sequel.

I liked it.

I like Monsters U for that matter.

Cars 2 was not good though so we agree there.

In inane world, yes. In the real world, no.

And Cars 2 makes Cars 1 worse. It shows you how limited an idea is when it doesn't make any sense.

And Mater is Jar Jar. And no movie with a Jar Jar can be called "fulfilling."

There are no enough downvotes in the world for the OP.

I did my argueing for it in the stupid disney tournament that was a failure.

The cars franchise is the 2nd highest grossing film as far as merchandising goes ever. Over $10 billion in sales to date. Only Star Wars has it beat, barely. It's 4x more than Toy Story, 3x more than Transformers, which has had 30 years worth of sales, and twice as much as Frozen. That wouldn't happen if the characters weren't so likable.

There isnt' a kid on this planet (that has a tv) that doesn't' love both of the movies. It is a great story about friends that all kids can relate to and experience in school.

Yeah I remember this.
And I've never seen anyone call it a shitshow. It's just that it doesn't stack up against the other Pixar films

In what way? Give me a reason any movie other than the Toy Story's are better? The basis of this movie franchise is better than all other animated films except for Toy Story and an argument could easily be made for the Despicable Me franchise.
The goal of every movie is to make a lot of money. This movie excels at that in a historic way. Disney did not think it would be this big. There's a reason it has been so successful, and it's not b/c the movie sucked.

I didn't say that, but it was given a 16 seed in the tournament, which is just retarded.

I didn't realize there was Cars hatred on this board. I'm with the OP. Cars is a good film. I liked Cars 2, also.

The "Cars Toon" shorts that come on Disney's channels randomly are also pretty entertaining.

I think people hate on the movie b/c they don't like Larry the Cable Guy and his type of comedy. He's the reason kids love the movie, and i think the reason some adults dont' like it.
There's a hatred for the Blue Comedy guys b/c some people think you have to be a trashy redneck to enjoy it, and i think that spills over into this movie.
Just a thoery b/c i don't understand how so many on here don't like this movie.
and i've never watched or heard larry the cable guy perform.

That was in response to the OP

We've already argued this in the tournament threads, but the goal of a movie to ME should be to entertain me. Sure, for Disney, it's to make a ton of money, but just because it's sold a lot of merchandise doesn't mean I like it any more.

The basis for this franchise is "what if cars were alive?" And what does it do with that premise? It basically makes them humans. They even have jobs and businesses that humans have.

Lightning McQueen is a celebrity who gets stuck in a rundown city, at first he wants to just get out as quick as possible, then builds a relationship with the characters and so on. I've seen that before. The fact that they're cars doesn't make it any more interesting to me.

The premises of the other Pixar movies takes an idea and builds worlds around that idea that have a lot more depth than a Cars world where they could have easily been humans in the same story.

ETA: It's also a straight rip-off of Doc Hollywood

It's not made to entertain you. It's to entertain your kid.

No. at first he doesn't like them b/c they seem different, something that kids do all the time. But once he gets to know them, he realizes they are good people and good friends.
Lightning McQueen was a hot shot that thought he was too good for anyone else, something snobby kids at school do.
The movie teaches not to judge a book by it's cover, and to stick by your friends side no matter what.

That is what's interesting about it to every kid on the planet.

If you can't channel your inner kid to see why this movie is such a success, then there's no point in arguing anymore.

It's a kids movie, not Inception.
In what way does the Lion King do this? a story of betrayal and murder.

I didn't have to channel my inner kid, or what you're really trying to say is "dumb myself down", to enjoy the other Pixar movies.

Your whole argument is that kids like it and it was a financial success, but what everyone else is arguing is that it wasn't as good as other Pixar films. Yes, kids liked it. Yes, it made a lot of money. It wasn't bad, but to me, it wasn't as good of a movie.
