You clearly have never worked in an office before, or really dealt with an overbearing employer. Aside from the fact that Milton wasn't let go and the hacking scam, it's a strangely accurate and funny depiction of the work environment. Even Peter getting promoted for doing the shite he did in the movie will seem entirely reasonable once you've been in that environment long enough. Just act as if you're semi-competent and bored, and it's quite feasible your employers will just think you're not being challenged enough and are ready for the next step. If you act like you're better than your job title, then people around you will often start to believe it as well. The movie is short, sweet, and to the point. It's just a brilliant comedy and you clearly didn't understand it.

I had a boss that was Lumberg with an a-hole streak. He was a memo king. He truly believed that it was more important that you did your paperwork than what you did with your paperwork.

We recommended this movie to him one weekend. He didn't find it funny. Thought they were very rude to the boss. I shite you not.

Have yet to have a Lumberg boss, but I'm familiar with those types. People like Lumberg fortunately don't become sales executives from my experience (aside from Inside Sales), but it's clear this is the case in many other departments.

I did however have a boss like Colin Farrell from Horrible Bosses, and that brought back horrifying flashbacks watching that movie.

Aside from all the hilarious reflections of working in a large bureaucratic office, it's also funny to anyone who's lived/worked in an urban sprawl area - from the commutes to your coworkers actually wanting to go eat at places like Chili's or Friday's. And your neighbors come from ALL walks of life.

As a life long slacker with no real direction in life, no movie spoke to me more than this one. It was like it was made for me

I have gone into multiple interviews using the Peter Gibbons approach with the Bobs, although I do have a few more questions armed with me. Was interviewing this year pretty frequently, and 3 of the jobs I didn't get (which thank god I didn't) said I'd grow bored with the job due to what I said. The offers I did get said that was their only major concern with hiring me is that I'd jump ship the second a more interesting job came along (which granted they're right to think that). Trust me, the Peter Gibbons approach saying you're bored and want to have an incentive for making money with their company and not to have much oversight does work, depending on your industry of course.

That's pretty epic and damn well eerie. Life imitating art a bit too much.

Aside from everything else great about this movie, I love the hardcore rap soundtrack. I think that was a pretty brilliant comedic choice.
