I really hate the selective speed of The Flash. (Spoilers)

Seriously, they need to cap his speed or quit w/ the running through time bit because it really ruins the show and my interest in it. This dude is faster than light but if his friends are in trouble or he is trying to save someone, he's somehow not fast enough at times? I am trying to hang onto this show because season 1 was so much fun but this writing is atrocious at times.

I agree, anyone that fast could save everyone.

Sometimes I get mad when he doesn't run so fast he solves the whole episode in 1 minute and I don't get to watch 59 minutes of commercials.

What you're talking about is why doesn't Green Arrow call the Flash to help him out once he knows where a bad guy is, and the Flash can take him out in mere seconds instead of the 1, 2 or 3 episodes it takes Green Arrow and his team to.

I would imagine this has a lot of basis in the comic source material, but the Speed Force and the Highalnder style "There can be only one" competition between the speedsters seems silly.

He's not able to get to full (go back in time) speed in nanoseconds. He typically has to have a pretty big head start to be able to open a portal either through time or to the speed zone. His top end speed is off the charts but he needs to work on his "0-60" so to speak.

On the TV show, he's not this fast. He's so far reached about Mach 3, with a single feat that went above Mach 3.
The time travel, as far as the show is concerned, is about being fast enough to enter the speed force - and THAT is used to travel through time.
It's not the same as how it is handled in the comics.

I enjoy the show and thought season 1 was excellent. I did not enjoy season 3 as much because of the whole Flashpoint angle. I just feel it can be used as a crutch to change whatever they need instead of developing a consistant story arc. I liked season 1&2 dr wells.
Also, as has been stated before season 4 needs multiple villians and no main speedster villian.
