Pretty good book with the potential to be a great movie.

But we're living in strange times now. And I just saw the trailer for it.

So instead of being treated to a film with elements from A Boy And His Dog, The Road Warrior, The Book Of Eli, Equilibrium, and The Running Man-------

I'm afraid it'll be more like a combination of Twilight and whatever other crappy, sissified movie teenage girls cry themselves to sleep over these days.

Based on the trailer, they're going to take a story set in the context of a futuristic dystopian society and still find a way to make it lovey dovey, bubble gum crap.

Suzanne Collins (author) co-wrote the screenplay. It will be fine.
In addition, the books did have "lovey dovey" qualities.

This. The complex relationship between katniss and Peta was a huge part of the books.

The trailer looks pretty faithful to the book in my opinion.

I've only read the first book. Without spoiling it for others who may not have read it yet, I felt that any romantic elements fit within the context of survival. I didn't find any of it to be over the top.

Are the other two books worse?

No they are both good. The relationship between Katniss and Peeta is essential to the plot.

Thanks. I'll give em a try.

Still hoping for Lord Of The Flies meets Running Man though.
