It was a tight pilot.

The "first episode over-exposition and over-acting" was kept to a minimum.

A nice sampling of the major characters, so you know what you'll be seeing down the road.

A couple of standout performances and no weak casting.

I'd give it an 8/10, and I went in with high expectations.

It wasn't a bad pilot at all and I think it'll end up being a pretty good show.

They got through the introduction of quite a few characters.

I thought it was pretty bad. Acting was not very good and it seems like it is going to take to long to get interesting.

i disagree on both counts. i thought both of those were the major issues with the pilot.

You do realize that this is a tv show based off of a comic book universe, right? Just about any adaptation from comics to tv will translate some over-exposition and over-acting to an extent. Arrow is even guilty of this to an extent. I actually thought they kept it to a somewhat low level considering the source material.

This was way better than the pilots to Arrow and SHIELD.

Like the Flash pilot, this series hit the ground running (pun intended).

as a pilot, it was very good. hooking an audience and building a story is tough to do in one hour. they did a great job giving the show a road other than Batman. i feel Bruce will be very minor, which he should be, and it will focus on Gordon and the characters of Gotham.

The way they are handling the Penguin is one of the highlights.

Don't have high expectations, and you won't be disappointed. The episode wasn't particularly creative, and they introduced a lot of characters that you'll know just because I guess they felt like they needed to. The casting was great, but some of the acting was pretty weak... but you can probably chalk that up to it being the pilot episode. The show has potential, but I had much higher hopes.

That wasn't apparent in the promos?

Introducing so many known characters in the pilot was a mistake IMO. Edited because this was supposed to be a "no spoilers" thread.

im not saying it wasnt. just letting the OP know. many still associate "Gotham" with only Batman. and Bruce Wayne is in the show still...

a fricking travesty

now with that said, it held my attention for a bit, and I'll give it another go

I hate to be that guy, but they're going too far from the source material.

I've said this all along, if you want to do a batman tv show, it has to be animated and heavily geared towards adults.

for this show, I hate how they say "falcone" I hate that jim Gordon (the focus of the entire show) is entering gotham at this particular time.

This really should've been "year one" only just before wayne arrives...wayne comes in during season 2 or 3, a couple of years getting ready, then batman.

they went the smallville route...I fricking hate smallville

how hard is it to not frick up batman

I was hoping that "gotham" (the missing ingredient, and that was the point, to Nolan's trilogy) would be enough to hold it; however, the city takes a step back for these boring lame versions of our favorite characters

they just fricked up the continuity too much. So riddler will be 50 when batman starts to come of age? frick that.

Right now, arkhamverse is still the best thing going for the batman franchise...they "get it"

this show isn't made with respect or love for the source material...it's going to continue sucking

My go to website for all TV shows. They will usually have links up for an episode at least 1 hour after it ends

year one is such a cornerstone in the batman universe, and they're totally fricking it up

I like the ambiguity of bullock in the comics and arkhamverse, but now he's just a total piece of shite? WHAT THE frick?!?!

if you must have Gordon, wayne, etc. to draw the audience then pick a better spot in the timeline. Bruce Wayne did a lot of training and even when he came back he plotted and eased into it.

you could have a 7 season show with bruce wayne not becoming batman until the end.
