Thinking about checking it out, how does it compare to say Band of Brothers?

I realize they're totally different wars and generations

I liked it a lot.

It may be more low key than you expect. But the characters and dialogue were great.

It doesn't get nearly the amount of attention it should.

I liked it. I was in the invasion and they did a pretty decent job of capturing it. Especially the crazy sandstorm.

The wife and I watch it about twice a year. It's really an entertaining show.

not as good as the book, they left out some parts i thought were badass but still good. Rudy plays himself.

If you can watch it wearing headphones you can catch some fricking funny background dialogue.

It's a very good show for what it was, using almost entirely inexperienced actors.

I remember the USMC SgtMaj being butthurt about it when it came on, so you know they did something right.

MCT: Did you watch the new HBO mini-series "Generation Kill"?

Yeah, I did — I didn't like it. I watched 15 minutes of it, and it did not portray the Marine Corps. I thought it was a slap in the face to the Marine Corps, especially when you've got Marines that know that doesn't portray a unit in the Marine Corps, from the leadership down.

I watched it for 15 minutes, and even my wife watched it with me. My wife said, "This is not the Marine Corps." She said, "This is not the Marine Corps that I grew up around."

I said, "No, it's not." And I turned it off.

Fantastic. David simon's attention to details is pretty spot on, and a helluva lot more entertaining than treme.
