How audacious to you see Hollywood getting in regards to remakes?

Are there any movies that you think Hollywood will give an 'untouchable' label to?

Can you see movies like The Godfather being remade? Episodes 4-6 of Star Wars? Citizen Kane?

Movies like Rear Window have at least been re-adapted. Casablanca redux has been thrown around as an idea if I recall correctly.

Is there any 'classic' or 'great' movie that you actually think would be better if redone with artistic integrity still in tact? (big if, I know)

Remake Howard the Duck, Robocop 2 & 3, Jade, etc.

Great movies shouldn't be remade.

Btw, they def. should remake Godfather 3, hopefully with Scorsese at the helm.

I hate to give the thread ending answer so quickly but..

There are no limits when enough money is involved.

This applies to way too much of our world today.

I could get behind remakes of Raymond Chandler's novels, even maybe The Big Sleep, although that is the only classic film of the bunch.

Peter Jackson and James Cameron need to pool their money and pay Lucas to let one of them remake Episodes 1, 2, and 3.

Remake cheesy action movies from the 80's to make them edgier and more believable. Predator and The Running Man come to mind.

Not a remake but I hope a Back to the Future 4 doesn't come out.

They made so much money on Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull that they are coming out with a 5 now.

Why would that make them better?

I would like to see this updated too. 80's action flicks just don't really hold up to today's good action movies. Running Man is a great premise that I'd like to see done smarter.

This is a concept I don't want to think about. Hollywood is capable of screwing up any legacy with a classless revamping.

or they could simply have king write the screenplay to be more faithful to the novellete and you'd have a whole new movie.

kinda like when the shining was redone a few years back.

That would be awesome.

The Shining (TV Mini-Series) was MUCH better than Kubrick's version: We learned who the little girls were; learned what happened in "that room;" learned more about the butler/bartender dude; more about Toby; etc. etc. Kubrick's movie was more about Nicholson than the actual story.

Back to The Running Man, the novella was so much darker than the movie, it's not even funny. There were lots of underlying themes that the movie didn't even attempt to cover. It was just a bad chase move.

I would love to see M. Night Shama-lama-ding-dong's take on "The Long Walk"--just as long as it didn't include Mark "say hello to your mother for me" Wahlberg or Bryce Dallas Howard.

Sorry. Not saying it's a bad movie, I actually like it--Nicholson at his finest. But I don't think it's as good as it's made out to be.

It insists upon itself. There. I said it.

If the plot from that website is correct, that sounds a lot better than The Crystal Skull

Official Indiana Jones 5 v Indy Jones 5 Five Fifth 5th New Indiana Jones 5 Indy 5 New Movie Film Indiana Indianna Jones 5 Spoilers Rumors Script Plot Summary Synopsis Story Screenplay Screen Play
Written by George Lucas

The Indiana Jones 5 movie begins in Mongolia. It's 1959. Indiana Jones and his guides are searching for the lost burial tomb of Genghis Khan, the legendary leader of the Mongol Empire. Indy Jones eventually finds the clandestine tomb along with an immense treasure, buried with Genghis Khan, beyond what anyone would ever believe.

Unfortunately, for Indiana Jones, the Communist Chinese military has been keeping Indiana Jones under surveillance. The Chinese capture Indy Jones and seize all the contents of the final resting place of Genghis Khan. The Chinese take Indiana Jones to a place where they show him clues, which reveal a great mystery involving the alleged location of the holy cross the Romans utilized to crucify Jesus Christ.

Before Indiana Jones can fully examine the info, a group of elite British commandos raid the facility where Indy Jones is being kept. Ironically, the British military had the Chinese under surveillance. In a bold and daring rescue mission, the British commandos take Indy Jones and the clues related to the holy cross from the Chinese.

The British commandos and Indy Jones arrive in London, England. The English then explain to Indy Jones what is going on. They tell Indy Jones that British intelligence discovered the Chinese had found clues in Jerusalem regarding the holy cross of Jesus. The British explain the legend surrounding the holy cross that it can bring a golden age for Humanity or the final apocalypse.

Since Indy Jones is regarded as one of the top archaeologists in history, the British want Indy to help them find the holy cross before the Chinese find its location. To reward the British for saving him from the Chinese, Indy Jones agrees to search for the holy cross. The British assign a British commando named Nevin to accompany Indy during his travels around the world.

This new adventure first takes Indy Jones and Nevin to Jerusalem. Several clues then lead Indy to Russia, France and finally to the hidden caves of Romania where the holy cross of Jesus Christ has been kept secretly for nearly 2,000 years. Indiana Jones 5 ends with a spectacular confrontation between the British military vs. the Communist Chinese military. The tremendous supernatural powers of the holy cross are released and the fate of the planet is at stake.

A complete Indiana Jones 5 plot script summary will be revealed in the future with further details.
