To steal and expand on JumpingtheShark's thread (sorry), I thought I'd add this kind of book discussion. And no, I didn't search back far enough so if there is one, then my fault.
I'm not sure if this would fall into the thriller genre or not, but I am a huge fan of Mark Tufo's works: The Zombie Fallout Series, Indian Hill series, and the Lycan Fallout Series. Excellent stuff and must reads for fans of those genres.
I am in awe of his writing style - granted he isn't perfect like some others, but the way he makes his stories flow and the characters are more than just plain awesome. I highly recommend any of his series!

Read John Ringo's Black Tide Rising series.
Under a Graveyard Sky is a great book. It is a good "realistic" version of the zombie apocalypse.
I'm a big John Ringo and David Weber fan.
Under a Graveyard Sky is a great book. It is a good "realistic" version of the zombie apocalypse.
quote:
A family of survivors who fight back against a zombie plague that has brought down civilization. Zombies are real. And we made them. Are you prepared for the zombie apocalypse? The Smith family is, with the help of a few Marines.
When an airborne “zombie” plague is released, bringing civilization to a grinding halt, the Smith family, Steven, Stacey, Sophia and Faith, take to the Atlantic to avoid the chaos. The plan is to find a safe haven from the anarchy of infected humanity. What they discover, instead, is a sea composed of the tears of survivors and a passion for bringing hope.
For it is up to the Smiths and a small band of Marines to somehow create the refuge that survivors seek in a world of darkness and terror. Now with every continent a holocaust and every ship an abattoir, life is lived beneath a graveyard sky.
I'm a big John Ringo and David Weber fan.

Thanks for clueing me in on those - will have to check them out.
Also, check out John O'Brien's "A New World" series. A completely different take on zombies that is very refreshing.
O'Brien and Tufo are jointly writing the "A Shrouded World" series where the main characters join up in a crazy world. Masterful to say the least.
Check out those two authors!
