The other guy's thread from last week didn't seem to be getting any attention, so figure I'd give it one last shot to get some attention for this show before Ep 2 airs tonight.

Don't let the cheesy title scare you off. Really worth a watch. A British hour long comedy airing on NBC about a motley crew of survivors in a doomsday bunker as an asteroid approaches Earth.

Really good pilot with lots of British humor and some feels moments as the end nears, with some intriguing twists in the storyline about how they all got there.

Mix of British cast along with Rob Lowe as an irreverent priest, Jenna Fisher as an innocent mom on death row, and Megan Mullaley as a white supremacists she meets while locked up.

Highly recommend catching the pilot On Demand or streaming and watching or recording Ep 2 tonight.

A hidden gem

Hollywood Reporter review

quote:

Given that nobody really knows what to make of a co-production comedy, and certainly not what to do with an hourlong comedy about the end of the world, it’s probably fair to assume that You, Me and the Apocalypse, premiering tonight on NBC, has gone under the radar for most people.

And that’s unfortunate, since this pre-apocalypse comedy — as opposed to, say, Fox’s The Last Man On Earth, a post-apocalypse comedy — has a fresh, funny and certainly thoughtful take on the end. There are plenty of laughs to be found, but that doesn’t seem to be creator and writer Iain Hollands’ primary objective. He’s all over the map with this U.S.-U.K. co-production (which has already aired in Britain), and the ambition is what makes it engaging.

Again, there’s a lot going on in You, Me and the Apocalypse. The good news is that most of it is swiftly and creatively entertaining and imaginative — which it deserves more credit for but won’t get because of its obscure heritage and hourlong, sometimes dark approach to comedy. If you’re looking for something different, though, give the end of the world a chance.

Yeah it was co-produced for UK and U.S. Aired first there. I think some have said you can find all 10 eps streaming

SEClint, did you watch it? Nothing is for everyone

I'm hoping it makes it. I missed last week but will catch it on demand. The premise is horrible (I mean its doomed to be only a couple of seasons) and the previews look bad but I hope it succeeds since Rob Lowe, Jenna Fisher, and Nick Offerman are all on there.

Yeah I actually kind of like that it doesn't seem set up to try to run for years and years on end. Wish more shows would go with a predetermined run date tailored for the story rather than just trying to crank out an endless number of eps with no overall plan for the story.

Not saying that is definitely what this show is doing but in general I like that concept if this is designed as a limited run type show.

Actually didn't even realize Offerman was in this!! He wasn't in the pilot. Just another reason to be excited for this!!

It's really, really good. I've got Kodi w/Genesis on my FireTV and have gotten through the first three episodes. It's been marketed completely wrong, although it's really not like any other show I've seen because it's definitely a hybrid of a few genres.

You can already see the (what seem like) completely different storylines coming together three episodes in. If they go a day per episode like they have so far it's got a 34-hour run in it, and that's just before the world blows up. So there's plenty of time to flesh everything out.

Only difference I can imagine between the US and UK version is that the language is awfully salty on the UK version, so I would imagine there's got to be either alternate scenes shot or at least dubbed over.

You are so right! Marketing has been atrocious and that's odd because Superstore (very funny) and Telenova (looks funny haven't seen it) are also NBC shows which are getting major marketing.

I'm gonna watch episode 1 tonight. Going out for bit first though.

Man, I bet the English cut is hilarious with less censorship. May have to check that out. Thanks for the info.

And yeah I think it's alternate scenes cause I didn't notice dubbing. Although I'll keep a closer eye on it tonight to see if I pick anything up

I enjoyed the pilot. The prison stuff was pretty good. Chris Traeger was, as always, excellent.

Nice!! Glad to see more people finding this show. Second Ep didn't disappoint. Good build off of the pilot. Interested to meet more occupants of the bunker as it goes along

I caught the first 2 episodes On Demand over the weekend. So far it's been very good. And I like the bits of mysteries they are including.

Finished the season last night so MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Really enjoyed the season, a bit a lull in the middle but not bad, the build up to the final few episodes was excellent, as were the final couple of episodes, tons of action going on in all the story lines.

I absolutely HATE how they killed off Jude, but Chris is busy so probably forced their hand with his character.

And what a cliffhanger to end on. The evil twin right at the very end swooping in and stealing Jamie's clothes and getting into the bunker. Ending the season with Jamie outside the closed off bunker wall and no way to get in. Really makes you wonder how he survives (assuming he does) being the son of God and all. I'm guessing he uses his Godlike powers to will the shut vault door open to get into the bunker (and bring Rhonda's husband inside too).
