Even though it never really had a huge following I think that the material and the writing could create a good enough trailer that the folks that never did watch it would want to go see it.
And then after the release of the trailer HBO could start filling one their time slots with Deadwood once a week to drag new viewers in and get the original fans' blood pumping with antici.........

This would be a very smart move by HBO (something they're not known for).
Even though the series ended 9 years ago, Timothy Olyphant has a huge following just coming off of Justifed. Also, Anna Gunn certainly still has people who would watch just to throw shite at the TV!
