quote:Yeah, Oblivion is another one that is kinda underrated. That's one of those movies that I just love to have on in the background. It's always on the premium channels.
Exactly. Will Smith needs to follow the Tom Cruise template and do some fun blockbuster type movies for a bit and nothing else. Looks like he might be doing that by signing up for Suicide Squad. Cruise did Ghost Protocol, Jack Reacher, Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, and now he's doing MI5. It helped that all of those were pretty decent movies.
Will Smiff's last decent movie I liked was I Am Legend.

Let's keep things in perspective since there are a few in this thread saying that Will Smiff is off his game. From a thread seven or eight months ago:
Sure, some of his movies aren't as good as they used to be, but he's still prety bankable. The reason some stick out is because he simply doesn't make many movies anymore, and he stopped making only huge blockbusters. Not everybody can keep up the pace he had for upwards of about 15+ years (and that was an intentional move by him and his agent to study the top grossing kinds of films and focus solely on doing similar projects...that's what made him a global megastar).
quote:
Will Smiff's last decade:
2004 - I, Robot, ~$350 million
2004 - Shark Tale, ~$370 million
2005 - Hitch, ~$370 million
2006 - Pursuit of Happyness, over $300 million
2007 - I Am Legend, $585 million
2008 - Hancock, $624 million
2008 - Seven Pounds, $168 million
2012 - Men in Black 3, $624 million
2013 - After Earth, $244 million
Most of those did good business domestically and abroad...but either way you slice it, he's arguably the most bankable star in Hollywood. You're out of your mind thinking he hasn't had a blockbuster in over a decade...he's had nothing but blockbusters basically.
ETA: He's just not making as many movies lately.

Forgot about Hancock--I liked that one a lot. Pursuit of Happyness is actually a really good movie too. MiB3 made $624MM?! Holy crap. I have honestly not seen a single MiB movie.

I'm going to go ahead and say you've never seen the movie.
You can't remember the name but you remember that it's one of his worst performances? Right.
The name slipped my mind, sorry I don't keep every Tom Cruise movie title in my long term memory. I totally should work on that... Barely remembered Knight and Day's title...
