I never once thought to myself that Ron was any less intelligent than Harry. Hermione, sure, but Harry wasn't exactly a brilliant intellect himself. A common thread throughout all of the books is how much Harry relied on and leached off of his friends. He wasn't a dunce, but he wasn't more special than anyone else with the exception of his flying skills, especially Ron.
If you take away Ron and Hermione from the picture, Harry lives a fairly uneventful life until He Whose Name Must Not Be Said eventually kills him.

Agree to disagree, Harry may not have been book smart like Hermione but when it comes to practical uses of spells and natural instincts under pressure he was clearly spectacular.
I think he is certainly a better wizard than Ron and better than Hermione at many magical things

In fairness to Harry, Ron grew up in a magic household and while Hermoine's parents were Muggles, they embraced and supported her magic education and exposure before she went to Hogwarts.
Harry had no fricking clue, and zero exposure or explanation, until Hagrid showed up.
