I thought Gotham was alright. Then again, I don't pretend to hate stuff to seem cool on the internet.

Exactly. Plus who jumps to conclusions (good or bad) about a show based on the pilot? Most of the quality shows regardless of source (network/cable/premium) struggle well into their first season.

I'm above network TV.

But I'll watch hours of it each night and take the time to write about it on the internet.

But then there's you, who "thought it was pretty" solid, just because it's a batman universe, even though you think it has its limitations and the writing was hokie. You're guilty of the same thing, just opposite

Just because it's a Batman universe? Hardly. I'm far from a fanboy. But as I said, I'm not naive enough to expect Mad Men, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad type quality out of every single show I watch.

It is entirely possible to just "like" a show and find it "enjoyable" even if it's not top notch in the very first episode.

But it's also possible for people to "shite on it" because they honestly did not like it, not because they wanna seem cool

This.

I'm a huge comic book fan. The whole premise of Gotham is a prequel to Batman.

I cannot escape the fact that it is the same premise that spawned us Jar Jar in the Lucas prequels.

Based on the poor writing, plot and pace of last night's episode. It could end up being a dumpster fire fairly quickly.

All that being said it took arrow and Agents of shield 75 percent of their first seasons to become must see tv viewing worthy.

Nice trolling. Plenty of us enjoyed the Gotham premier.

In all fairness, and I didn't much care for the premier, this is the first showing of the murder (as far as I know) that has a major character witnessing the crime. I'm sure that sets up a new wrinkle that the show is going to play off of that hasn't happened before.

It's also the premise that gave us Godfather II.

I'm not a TV snob per say but after committing to stuff like breaking bad, mad men, GOT, Lost, the wire, leftovers etc......I'm gonna compare perfection to this pilots.....

Call me a pretender I don't care, those two shows were shite.....I'd be willing to bet they likely get cancelled too.

so you compare the greatest shows ever on television to crime dramas on fox? seems legit.

OP attempted a troll and failed quickly.

A no-win question like this is usually the point where the troll wannabe accepts failure and silently moves on or really starts embarassing him/herself and sticks around.

Hold on. Your wife's complaint is that the prequel tv show to Batman showed his origin story?

Where in this universe of legit complaints does that make any sense?

Or better yet, comparing only the pilot to those entire series. This is like having a newborn and calling it retarded because it didn't come out of the womb wiping its own arse.

As stated earlier, both Arrow and Agents of SHIELD were weak at the start but are now both hitting good strides. Give it a season before condemning it.

The point being Gotham just regurgitated something that has been done OVER AND OVER AND OVER.
Because it is one of the most important events in Gotham's history. The turning point.

Not showing it would be fricking tragically stupid.

I thought both were okay. I can hardly ever decide I dislike a show after only the pilot. I have to give it about 5 weeks.

Getting back to Utopia, does anyone else think the contractor reminds them of Jason Segel?

But showing it in the pilot was the mistake. My problem is that Gotham came out the gate throwing everything and anything at the wall and the usually means the series is going to be a bust.

How many villains/characters were referenced in 40 minutes? Like 6-8 major people from the Batman Universe.

It just seems that had the show started very methodically and introduced us to just Gordon and his beginning his role as detective, it would give the show much more stamina in the long run. The end of Season One could have easily been the murder of the Waynes. I would also like to see very little of Bruce Wayne in this series.

My two cents.
