I thought we got some pretty good politics with Tyrion and Dany, Roose and Ramsey, and the Wildlings and Snow (before all hell broke loose).

Truth. I loved the Wildlings stuff. Really great. Tyrion is saving Dany's story, and Ramsay is always awesome. Really was a great episode.

I liked tonight's episode because winter finally came, but as a guy who is not big on action, I'm looking forward to more politics.
besides being a rockets fan me and you are the same person.

while I can appreciate the visual effects and the badass fight scenes presented by the white walkers and "winter", I am MUCH more fascinated and intrigued by the political side of the show.

Oh for sure. I feel like pulling for Ramsay will be just like pulling for the Rockets. Lots of haters.

While he is a bastard and a rapist , I have no doubt that he can/will do some serious damage to Stannis' army with only 20 good men.

How ironic that the show's weakest season would feature the show's strongest episode. Episode eight f****** rocked!

Hodor here. Which storylines currently going on are actually in the books. Tia.

i think it's just cersei, stannis, and arya at this point. the rest of the show is beyond the books (or completely different)

Thanks. I kind of figured the Stannis/Bolton storyline was when Ramsey dropped the feast for crows line.

i'm not a book reader, and i have asked the question without a real response, but reading b/w the lines of reader comments leads me there

i am quite sure that these stories are beyond/different than the books: dany/tyrion, the wall, sansa, jaime/dorne, and bran

am i missing any of the storlyines between these 2 posts?

The wall is different in the books, but there is still a good bit of plot left from the books that will end up in the show

Same with Sansa, drastically different way to get to it, but that storyline still has some stuff to flesh out

There's a lot of storylines that the show has completely cut out as well

Tyrions is going somewhat the same, they just skipped a bunch, but Tyrion hasn't met Dany in the books yet

Jon and the Wall is different

Sansa is beyond the books, but kinda in line with the books...she just replaced another character not in the show

Jamie/Dorne is way different than the books. He never goes to Dorne.

And Bran is still with the books, but his story is caught up with the books, so anything now would be beyond the books

There are a couple of storylines/characters from the books that they are completely leaving out

Actually the Stannis/Bolton storyline is basically on course with the books. There is one major plot point in that particular storyline that hasn't happened yet. But according to one of the released chapters of the upcoming WoW book, Stannis hasn't started his siege of Winterfell yet.

The show has jumped the books in uniting Tyrion & Dany, but there is still an event that has happened to Dany in ADWD that will probably happen by the end of this season.

Cersei's storyline is on track with ADWD.

Sansa's storyline is completely different in the books. Sansa is still in the Vale in the books, and the person that is married to Ramsey is a fake Arya (it's actually the servant girl we see in season one). So D&D just combined those two storylines.

Jon's storyline is somewhat on track with the ADWD, but they changed Jon actually accompanying the NW to Hardhome, and him having his faceoff with the White Walker (and confirming that Valyrian steel can kill them). But the plot point that hasn't happened yet in the Stannis storyline in ADWD, also effects the Jon storyline so that hasn't happened yet on the show also.
