It really is amazing how many lines are applicable to Game of Thrones.

a few- the big ones are IMO

1) Ladystone Heart
2) Blackfish Tully at Riverrun parlay w/Jamie
3) the Iron Islands
4) Manderly's meat pies
5) Tower of Joy
6) The Blackfyre Targaryens
7) Aegon Targaryen & Jon Connington

I think all but numbers 3 (casting for next season looks to have Euron making an appearance) and possibly 5 (I think they almost have to if R+L=J) probably aren't ever gonna make the show.

ETA: I forgot about the pies. I hope they eventually do it, but they will probably have to change up the characters involved.

I would say the entire White Harbor storyline (Davos, etc.) - with no clear substitute in sight is currently missing - taking, effectively, any mention of Rickon with it at this point.

quote:

5) Tower of Joy

It is "present" - and recall it is all in the past - they have mentioned the "initiating" event - the Tourney at Harrenhall, but both of those events are as important to the stories as anything in the "present" time - yet are neglected by the show - when you compare the Battle of the Trident (Ruby Ford) and the Sack of King's Landing - both of those are given featured treatment in the show, while the other two have been neglected thus far.

ETA: In the books, Robert's rebellion "began", for all practical purposes at the Tourney at Harrenhall and ended at the Tower of Joy. L was the catalyst. The key events are the Tourney, the Trident, the Sack and the ToJ. At some point it will have to be addressed or at least summarized in a coherent way for the viewer or the stories will have to diverge even more radically.

how many storylines in the show now are NOT past the books?
Answered by tab, but also, Brienne's story is radically different and almost everything happening in Dorne is made up by the show. Winterfell and the Wall are not past the books, but soon will be.

i finally manned up and started reading book 1 again, but it's going to take me a while (i only read before bed and only get in about 10 min before passing out) to catch up

Speaking of Stolen Valar Morghulis did you notice all of the stuff the slave trader was saying about Jorah in the Greyjoy rebellion was really about Thoros of Myr?

The audiobook of "Game of Thrones" is ~40 hours.

10 minutes a day - ~200 hours is just under 4 years.

Thoros didn't kill Khal Drogo in single combat

I'll bet he finishes the next one by this time next year. After that, who knows, but one or both of the last two is going to have to be pretty long in order for him to wrap up the numerous plots - like 1500 pages long.

Show them soom boobies and they're usually good for another couple of weeks.

Nude scenes are like Red Bull for Hodors.

They are trying to find some deep meaning between seeing tits

Calling it "weird and forced", must be talking about their sex life

What are they saying? Why would that scene piss them off so much.

about half the posts are mine, so i can chime in here. it's just pointless and stupid. poisoning bronn is the really stupid part

where the storyline involving the sand snakes and bronn can go is not really existent, unless buggery is afoot

There's probably a reason to keep Bronn alive, and in the mean time we got the GOAT GOT tits in the shows history. What's the complaint about?
