Was checking out the Coming Soon list on IMDB and saw this comes out September 1st. Had no idea they were making a sequel.

Will probably be terrible, but the original is a guilty pleasure of mine so will check this out. Not sure if this board has thoughts one way or another on the original.

quote:

A lockout has reunited old teammates and brought a crew of new players to the bench for the Halifax Highlanders. Sidelined after one too many hits and now married with a baby on the way, Doug "The Thug" Glatt hangs up his skates and settles into life as an insurance salesman. But when Doug's nemesis, Anders Cain, is made captain of the Highlanders and new ownership threatens to tear his team apart, Doug is compelled back into action.

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't know about it either.

I don't think that there should be anything "guilty" about it. It's pretty much universally loved here and was well reviewed by critics (82% on RT).

Ok great, I didn't realize. I guess I just never see it mentioned on here.

Since it's better known than I thought, I will post the original gif I refrained from posting in the OP

My fricking review of fricking Goon2.

It fricking was terrible compared to Goon. Humor was fricking missing. No fricking witty dialogue.

And here's a fricking spoiler for you... every scene includes a fricking shite ton usage of the word frick.

All that said, I still like the character and think it could have been a much better story.

And if anyone knows of any celebrity death pool for 2018, put your money on Jay Burechel - that dude looks like the crypt keeper on crack.

And the winner for most unnecessary sequel of the year goes to.... Goon 2.

I loved the original, but come on. They were out of story to tell.

Disappointing, but not the least bit surprising.
