Did you know that there was talk of a sequel to Gladiator?
Check out one of the proposed Scripts
Some Trippy stuff to be sure.

And so, pitches were made. Maybe, one writer suggested, Gladiator 2 could be a prequel, one focusing on the years Maximus spent as a General for the Roman army. Or maybe, another team of writers offered, it could be a spin-off focusing on the post-Gladiatoradventures of the Emperor's grandson, Lucius, who we'd later find out was actually Maximus' son all along! Or what about a multi-generational thing a la The Godfather Part II, with Maximus appearing in flashbacks and his son, Marius, getting into...I dunno, some sort of gladiatorial hijinks? Or hey, Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott suggested: what if we really swung for the fences and hired Nick Cave to write a sequel that'd tackle Crowe's death head-on, something supernatural that'd find Maximus overcoming a new series of obstacles in the afterlife?
As crazy as that last idea sounds, it wasn't dismissed on the spot. Perhaps Dreamworks was just humoring Scott, Crowe and their newly re-established box office clout. Maybe they actually liked the ballsiness of the concept, and were excited at the prospect of delivering something so unexpected. Or maybe the other pitches were just so boring by comparison, they were willing to try anything at that point and didn't see the harm in letting Cave take a run at it. Whatever the case may be, Nick Cave's Gladiator 2 actually got written, and lemme tell ya: it is totally fricking bananas.
Some Trippy stuff to be sure.

I might be OK with a Maximus war movie prequel. We're due for another good sword and sandal movie. Of course, Russell Crowe has really aged since the first one so I don't know if he's believable as a younger Maximus 15 years later.

Emperor's grandson, Lucius, who we'd later find out was actually Maximus' son all along!

Get Ridley Scott out of the room and I might be interested with the prequel idea.

I like Cave's version. Holy hell that would be epic.
In fact, if anyone's with pull is reading this. I'd like to help fund the damn thing.

Well, given Crowe's reputation as a complete pain in the arse to work with, perhaps a different Maximus? I know,I've just commited heresy.

Terrible idea. Nothing can be left alone anymore.
Next summer! The sequel to Shawshank! The Warden is still alive!

Completely agree that it shouldn't be made.

The sequel to Shawshank!
Tell me you wouldn't watch that shite!

Andy and Red trade in the warden's shoes for a pair of those really snazzy cartel boots. IWWI...
On topic: Maximus prequel could be cool if they had another, younger guy to play him. It would be expensive as shite to make it right though.

Nah, it'll be a prequel about how Red landed in Shawshank.

this movie needs no sequel. It would be like a sequel to Titanic.

Hooray! A sequel to the most overrated movie in history... slightly ahead of "Braveheart". Will there be a Bravheart 2, too?
Heh... I said tu tu.

CGI the hell out of him. Peter Jackson and Legolas style.

Would watch all but the prequel. I hate prequels.
