I currently have Netflix and Kodi on all my TVs. The same stuff that's on Netflix can be found on Kodi, including the Netflix originals. The thing about Kodi is it's not in a nice interface like Netflix. Would you cut Netflix and save that $10.69 a month, $128 a year cost? It's not hurting me financially by any means, just really asking is it worth it?

I'd keep it if there are originals you like.

I like their shows. I'm keeping it. I also have HBO Now which I only use for GoT and for my son to watch El Perro Y El Gato.

I can't tell you what things should be worth to you, but if the price doesn't bother you at all, I don't see how you wouldn't prefer the superior interface and paying for programming you like.

If you're paying $10 a month, you're on the 2 Screen HD plan.

Sublet your 2nd screen to a friend and save $60 a year.
Or find a friend that has a service that you don't have, and share screens with him. You pay for Netflix, he pays for Hulu. That way no money changes hands and you're getting double the value.

Next step is swapping wives.

This Kodi thing is really free? My worry is how long will that last? Kind of like Popcorn Time, they finally found a way to crack down on that, got it cut off multiple times and then began threatening to cut off your internet. I don't know about Kodi but what would make it different and not eventually meet the same fate? I would prefer to just pay $10 a month than risk suddenly not having it (especially since I don't have cable) or losing my internet.

To you yes, but someone has to pay for it. I started a thread asking about the economics behind Kodi because it does seem unsustainable but I don't think anybody has a good answer so it got mostly crickets. The Torrent and Napster models had users carrying the cost of the storage and bandwidth. Kodi is streaming from servers that either use ads or subscriptions which are mostly bypassed with Kodi. I just don't see how this house of cards remains standing if a growing number of users aren't paying. The question is will it crash before it creates change?

I think Kodi is going to be to the movie industry what Napster was to the music industry. They still charge like $5 for an SD quality movie rental. I think streaming rentals need to be price competitive with NetFlix DVD by Mail and RedBox. $10 a month should get you about 6 HD quality rentals per month. Keep it time delayed like DVDs to not eat into sales, but just give me an easy and reasonably priced way to stream new releases.
