The last season was so poor that any desire I might have had to re-watch disappeared.

Not really. The last 2 1/2 seasons were just offputting, the ending particularly so.

That's the issue with seasons 7 and 8. It was dumbed down to give those bar watch parties something to ooh and aah at while the first 4 seasons the dialogue was more important than the action

The first 4 seasons were A+. Wonderful characters, great arcs, tough but well written losses for the viewers. Ned, Rob, and Oberyn to name a few had their demises well written and set up thoroughly.

5-7 had some great moments but noticable dip in quality from dialouge and overall pacing once the source material was finished and all they had was the basic outline GRRM supposedly provided them with.

Great characters like Tyrion went to complete shite. Tyrion goes from having clever lines, being two steps ahead while occasionally bested, and a useful character to becoming basically the fool from Joffreys Wedding.

exposition replaces character arcs, dialouge, and development.

GoT is flawed but still watchable and enjoyable

then there is season 8...

Honestly the show now feels like a Beatles vinyl that was rerecorded to feature DJ Khaled on every track.
