No..that is why he had to burn them. He killed them just to be stand-ins and to show the others in Winterfell he could not be disobeyed. Which is why he WOULD have killed the Stark children if he found them.....to show his complete control.
that is the irony of his current situation. he was drunk on power and being in control and NOW he is totally controlled.

Well, I think it's probably impossible for Theon to have a full and complete redemption arc (though Jamie kind of managed to get close to it) but he is capable of strides in that direction. In any event there comes a point in the "punishment" of someone that it says more about the person doing the punishing than the one receiving it.

I also find it completely laughable that Sansa wouldn't know what would happen to her if she disobeyed the Boltons. The Boltons are there second most powerful house in the North behind the Starks, and even Bran in the books knew not to trust them and fear them. Ned would have almost for certain warned Sansa about Roose Bolton and she's certainly met him before.
