How damn hard is it to make a Friday the 13th movie? Get your cliched horny teenagers in a cabin and have Jason murder them.

The exact reason for the move is unclear, although one factor could be the poor performance of the studio’s horror movie, Rings. That pic, which like Friday the 13th was to have restarted a horror franchise, cost $25 million and bowed to $13 million over the weekend.

you're doing it wrong

horror movies are good investments b/c they're supposed to be cheap

It was set to open Oct 13 and they haven't even started filming yet? I guess it could be worse. World War Z 2 is still scheduled for release this summer and hasn't even began pre production.

Damn. We were going to meet Jason's father in this reboot.

Apparently it was just pulled from the schedule two days ago. Looks like it had a June 9 release date before that.

Apparently David Fincher wants to direct WWZ2, but Paramount won't commit.

Why does David Fincher want to touch that film anyway?

I know, but Jason is obviously who they were going with. Most people probably don't know about his mom being the killer in the original

Why are they making a 2nd one? That movie was awful.

I really wish that AMC, Netflix, or Hulu would pick up World War Z and create an episodic show involving the chapters.

There were talks of a found footage Jason movie, which actually sounded kinda fun to me.

that would work

i just don't see why a Jason movie would ever need to cost $25M

Me neither. Bring Tom Savini in...do it right and on a shoe string budget.

I thought it was a decent movie, but it was in no way shape or form WWZ.

It needs to be a miniseries, and nothing more. We don't need ANOTHER zombie TV show with no end in sight. But if they sat down and created a miniseries, where they had a finite (and small) number of episodes to tell the story, it could be amazing.

And I still want to see Yonkers properly portrayed onscreen at some point. :/

Yonkers and then the Battle of Hope.

Plus the blind man, the Air Force Captain who's plane crashes, the Japanese kid who has to escape his apartment building, the dogs, the family that moves North with no idea what to do, the defense of the medieval castle, the defense of the college (that was just referenced).

There is so much good material.

Also, the Russian purge, the Tiger of Delhi too.

They did that in 2009 with Julianna Guill, Willa Ford, and America Olivo. May have had some of the best horny teen scenes of all time. The movie as a whole sucked though.
