Friday Night Lights (TV Series)

What the hell happened to season 2? I was watching it on Netflix. Got to the 15th episode of the 2nd season. At this point, Smash had just been suspended for punching the white dude with two games left in the regular season.
Very next episode ended up being episode 1 of season 3 where a whole new season is starting. They didn't show any of the final games or any of the playoffs. Does Netflix just not have the ending to season 2 or did they just decide to skip the entire back half of the football season? I'm so confused. So much new stuff is happening in this episode that I feel like I somehow missed about 10 episodes.

I just recently rewatched this show and wondered WTF myself.. I didn't even notice it the first time I watched..
What happened was the writers went on strike I believe late into season 2 and they had to end it earlier than expected.. The new writers wanted to give Smash a proper send off so they instead used Coach Taylor helping him rehab as way to bring him back for season 3..
It is still so freaking silly, but it's whatever.
There are other inconsistent events, however I can't think of any.
I may have missed it.. but what ever happened with the Mexican player Buddy was helping out? I don't remember his send off.

The writer's strike happened. It fricked up a lot of shows around that time. The season was supposed to be 22 episodes but the last seven never got made.

Season 2 is the worst anyways. The whole Landry/Tyra murder storyline was awful.

The murder storyline was 100% a result of the writer's strike and once the regular writers came back, it was scrubbed as if it never happened.

Like everyone being seniors in the first season except Landry and Matt but they returned as underclassman for the rest of the series

The Office is the only show I remember not having a complete wtf season that year. It was just short.

and not only that.. (**maybe spoilers if OP hasn't watched the full series)
Tim is obviously an underclasman but he sure seemed like an upper classman the entire time. Maybe he just had been held back because of grades which makes sense.
First episode we have Landry driving around Matt in his car.. but Landry is also one of the very last to graduate. He is still in school even after Matt.. and Tim... So he was driving as what a Freshman? I understand it's possible to get your license during your freshman year.. but he was driving to the start of school. Ha.
Trying to do the math in my head. Matt played for 3 seasons. QB for 2, and WR for Senior year.. then graduated.. and Landry (who is the smartest one of them all) still had another year of school left. So Landry would have to be a freshman in season one.
Also, did Jason ever get a test to prove the child was really his? lol
