The first reactions for James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 have officially hit the web and the news is good! Gunn’s 2014 original was a game-changer, the little weirdo Marvel movie that could despite the fact that most of the world had no idea who the hell the rag-tag group of heroes even were.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 kept a smile on my face from beginning to end. Funny, action packed, emotional, and tons of surprises. Thumbs up.

Jon Schnepp ? @JonSchnepp
I saw #GotGVol2, & though slightly uneven,I got sniffly,I did a few side looks,I laughed a lot, & overall really enjoyed it! I want more!

Peter Sciretta ? @slashfilm
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is funnier than the original, a ton of surprises, and an unexpected emotional profoundness. I am Groot.

Perri Nemiroff ? @PNemiroff
Didn't love #GotGVol2 as much as the 1st but it's still super fun. Really enjoy spending time w/ this kooky family, especially Drax & Groot!

Jeff Sneider ? @TheInSneider
Hate to be the Voice of Reason, but GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2 isn't as good as the first. What felt fresh now feels forced. 2.5/4 stars

Jeff Sneider ? @TheInSneider
The problem w/ GOTG2 is that the VFX threaten to swallow the film, which is way too long & too reliant on music cues. Too much family drama.

Dan Casey ? @DanCasey
Holy smokes was Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol 2 fun! I had a smile plastered on my face nearly the whole time. Tons of Easter eggs too.

Mike Ryan ? @mikeryan
Also: Come for the movie, stay for the not one, not two, not three, but *four* post credit scenes.

Simon Thompson: #GuardiansoftheGalaxyVol2. It was okay; I didn’t love it. It lacks a lot of what made the original so tight. Drax and Groot are highlights.

Also, James Gunn announced yesterday he's officially signed on for part 3.

Meh. Those mixed tweet reactions will turn into positive reviews when Disney opens its checkbook.

I wonder what the person that said this was expecting?

Well most good movies don't need advertisements.

Notice how Suicide Squad trailers were everywhere.

I don't know. Perhaps a fun, action-packed, comedic film. You know...like the first one?

I'm super pumped for this. I make it to the movies once a year, sometimes twice. Almost never on opening night (save Star Wars, duh).

This will be the first non-Star Wars movies I've seen on opening night in 15 years or so.

If you haven't yet, go see Logan. I highly doubt GOTG 2 will be as good as that movie. I can't recommend it enough.

Not when you have Disney buying off critics for positive publicity.

I'm sure that stuff is in there too. But the director made no secrets about it being a father/son story.

There are good films in the MCU that have made money. Triggered DC fanboys like to pretend this isn't the case and that all of the MCU success is because of positive reviews paid off by Disney...

I agree. That's why rather than argue I just ask for evidence. I also don't understand the concept of DC vs MCU fanboys. I wish they were both making good movies, so I could enjoy both.

Batman and Superman were bigger comics than anything marvel did... people cling to that and are hurt over how they've recently translated to film (outside of the Nolan trilogy).

That's a bit excessive.

Although I bet one is Baby Groot doing something, then probably a sex joke by Drax or Quill, then Howard the Duck again....then MAYBE 2 scenes that are meant for future films.

Really hoping for the Danvers peek, finally. And most likely a Thanos quote again.

I mean, we're Guardians, Thor, Black Panther then Infinity War.

So, So close.

Saw this on another board this morning. It's exactly how I feel...
