I forgot about that. God I hate effects driven movies today

There were a lot of things wrong with Green Lantern. Ryan Reynolds wasn't one of them.

Reynolds has already ruined one comic book franchise. Who greenlighted this?
This movie has been clamored for ever since it was learned that was to play Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins. It was clamored for all the more after they completely shite all over Deadpool in that movie and then even more so after Reynolds basically came out and said, "I wanted to kill someone for what they did to Deadpool."
He and the director are massively invested in this movie. This is their child. They have been trying to get it made for years. After the test footage "leaked" and went viral, it was all but solidified that a Deadpool movie was going to be made and that there was a real audience for it. Moreover, it was clear that Reynolds was made for this role (or at least appears to be).
The only way this movie gets fricked up is if the same thing happens in Deadpool as what happened in Green Lantern: the studio gets too involved and overproduces, overwrites, and basically attempts to further tank Reynolds' career. At the very least, it will not be the fault of Reynolds.

Yeah Ryan Reynolds has a good peronality for the big screen, his choices in movies have been mind blowing lately.
RIPD, green Lantern, turbo - yawn
You gotta put him in the right role, but if you do, he's an entertaining screen peronality.

Well they picked the wrong director for green lantern. I never saw the fit.

I honestly see a very Matthew McConaughey-like resurgence to Reynolds' career if he makes smart choices. He is more than a pretty face with a sharp tongue. You can catch glimpses of it in some of his movies.

That is 100% Deadpool right there.
The only worry I have about the source material that will make or break this movie will be his tendency to break the fourth wall.
It could be very funny or very bad.
I do hope Deadpool makes fun of Ryan Reynolds at some point though.

RIPD was so terribly bad, yet i will watch it when it is on simply because of Reynolds and bridges - they worked well together.

O God, that would be amazing.

it would - and i bet he does, cause it would be perfect.

Did you see the photo of Burt Reynolds this is based off of?
I would post it, but I don't want the ban hammer. It flirts with the edge a little.
Needless to say, it is fricking hilarious and is on Ryan Reynolds' twitter page (@VancityReynolds is his handle).

Only question I have is how they gonna do his mask. Will it be CG or practical effects or will they just make a bunch of masks with different facial expressions...
Reynolds did the best he could with what was given to him.
quote:Movie had zero script focus. And didn't really do much at all with the source material. Whoever wrote that didn't read any GL books. I'm a fringe fan of DC in general, and even I know that Hal Jordan didn't have issues with fear.
if you think Green Lantern was exclusively his fault....I dunno what to tell you. sometimes people can only rise to the level of the material presented.some rise above, but the majority that don't, its cause the source material for them to work with is shite.

Good stuff.
But the people involved have to be completely on point with this film. They sit on a razor's edge with the tone of this thing.

Looks like it came from the set of a CW show.
I get it is very authentic, but that doesn't always look amazing in motion.
I wouldn't read too much into it as far as what to expect from the movie.
That said, I'm OK with moving away from the "walking tire" era of movie superheroes. I was never sure how Hollywood decided to make comic book characters look "realistic" by having them walk slowly in black rubber suits.

Don't forget that movie where he was buried alive the whole time. I like him but he hasn't been in a good movie in quite a while.

I'm not going to lie...I enjoyed "the in laws"

He's got Channing Tatum syndrome
He's got excellent comedic timing and is best served in comedic roles (romcoms don't count) but they have the looks of a Hollywood Leading Male so Studios throw money at them to do the blockbusters and the romcoms and they aren't dumb, they are going to take the million dollar paydays with the big studios

Reynolds would be an internet hero if he stuck to stuff like deadpool and Waiting and Van Wilder
Problem is most internet heros don't make bank like posing with Sandra bullock does
