Firefly vs. Cowboy Bebop

I finally started watching Firefly the other night upon hearing that it will soon be removed from Netflix (awesome show btw. Can't believe they cancelled it), and as I was watching I was struck by how much it reminded me of Cowboy Bebop.
To those of you who don't watch anime or have never gotten around to this one, Cowboy Bebop is a show that follows a motley crew of bounty hunters on their jobs throughout the solar system. There are shootouts, government/corporate conspiracies, and a cynical but still good at heart lead man. A combination space western and noir.
Now for years people have pined for a live-action Cowboy Bebop, and I would still love to see it happen (especially in an episodic format), but in the event that it never materializes Firefly comes pretty darn close.
In the meanwhile, I just wanted to call attention to the striking similarities between these two shows and possibly link people who had watched and liked one but hadn't heard of or tried the other. You definitely should, they're quality stuff.
Cheers, all.

Yeah they have similarities for sure. Same with Outlaw Star.
Cowboy Bebop is probably the single greatest anime of all time though.

It's the anime for non-anime fans. Very linear, recognizable characters, set in a "realistic" future.

Never seen Cowboy Bebop. Firefly is my favorite TV series of all time.

You definitely should. It's still my favorite anime after all these years.
