She is a General Leia, not to get all nerded up on you.

That is the one thing I agree with you on, it was tough to watch her scenes.

I didn't like it. Too corny and although I appreciate how they stayed true to the original with fast scene changes, it only made me not like it.

I don't understand all this criticism for her.

From a real life standpoint, she's had a crazy life. She has bipolar, got addicted to coke, and had a best friend commit suicide in her house. And through all of that, I think she's turned out to keep a pretty damn good attitude.

And it works from a story point. She goes from adventure to adventure throughout her whole life starting at 18. You'd imagine how much of a toll that takes on someone and the pressure.

Ep 8 better be original or they may start losing some of the fan base

Plot has leaked that Luke reveals he is Rey's father and he slices off one of her boobs.

The ending of episode 9 will reveal that she has breast cancer and he did out of love.

Her acting sucked but everyone else did well enough to carry her slack.

And, yeah, she has been through a lot.

If you're getting out of this movie that he's a "villain," I think you're reading the signs wrong. Hes portrayed as a morally confused character whose heart just isn't in it. They're setting up his actions for forthcoming movies. He's an antagonist but if this trilogy ends with Ben Solo as the villain, I'd be absolutely shocked m:

That's a fair point.

Although I find it strange that that would be their intention given the propensity of people to assume he's the next Darth Vader due to the similarities.

ITs not perfect for sure, but it is at the very least an enjoyable move IMO.

But i swear if they built one more fricking death star I am done.

The Emperor built many superweapons in preparation for the imminent invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong. But I highly doubt they will get introduced in this new canon, cool as that would be.

Yet you you complained of the play being too similar to the first, but wanted the villain to be the same as Vader?

Fair enough, I probably was looking for another Vader type. Albeit I understand it's tough to follow up to maybe the most notorious villain ever.

My point was you could not "handle" a nuanced villain. He was a "kid" playing dress up. Trying desperately to be something he's not or wasn't raised to be. Trying to live up to a ghost he's never met.

Which is not what I want in a villain. That's my preference. I'm fine with flaws, I'm fine with hints of morality, that's actually a common trait in many villains.

As another poster said, maybe he's not supposed to be the main villain, but if he is they just undermined the frick out of him in this movie.

Maybe he turns out to be a badass in the future, I don't know, I just did not find his character intriguing as a villain.

I upvoted even though I enjoyed the movie.

It was so bad.

I understand why some people didnt like the film, and thats fine. I think most people are willing to let go the similarity to the original trilogy plot due to just how bad the prequels were.

For many people, star wars was destroyed forever by how bad those were. They had to restore the faith. But I dont think people will give them a pass on the next film if they dont take risks. They need to do something different for this one.

That being said if you didnt like the film because of a female lead or Finn then frick you.

Disliking Kylo is ok.

Please for the love of god tell me TD doesn't approve of this movie. I'd slap the shite out of JJ if I was Lucas for this blatant rip off of New Hope.

Fair enough.

Personally, I really don't want his character to have a redemption arc. He should go out as a villain as he tries and tries to be evil throughout the new trilogy. Perhaps he realizes the error of his ways, but also realizes there is no coming back, so he chooses to stay the course. I think it would be hard for fans to swallow his redemption after killing the beloved Han Solo. Plus, that would be something "new."

You've got the prequels where Anakin is "slowly" seduced to evil. The originals where Luke avoids temptation and Vader is redeemed by/for family. This story could be different by having Kylo consciously choosing to do "wrong" because that's what he wants to do for whatever reason, and avoiding the temptation of the light and his family.
