the rules:
- must be based on real life musician(s); not a fictionalized character inspired by an actual musician
- no documentaries

Mine is the 2007 film Control. Centered around the struggles of Joy Divison's Ian Curtis, you don't need to be a fan of the band to appreciate this flick. directed by Anton Corbijn. This movie delivers so much more than a formulaic biopic, and sam riley's ian curtis is extaordinary. Highly recommended.

followed very closely by Sid & Nancy (1986)

i'm sure this topic is goebbels as hell, but i'm relatively new, and refuse to search for past threads. just go with it.

Does Help! count?

And while fricking you rules, I'd like to throw out That Thing You Do. Not a great movie but a catchy song.

You should have started a "just watched TDKR" thread, instead.

My favorite is I'm Not There

It still counts because the movie is about the metaphors/characters of Bob Dylan which is a much more accurate portrayal of him than a straightforward biopic

So it played out the actual life cycle of a real life one hit wonder pretty well. The movie is better than I thought.
