1. I assumed Kyoko was a robot from the first time she appeared in the film. At first, I assumed she was an early prototype that he kept around as a servant (in more ways than one)... then at times I thought she might be the real test for Caleb.. Be presented with Ava (obvious robot) and see if he can figure out Kyoko was one... Obviously he didn't, and after finding out she was one even questioned if he was one (cutting arm scene).

Interesting. Had not thought about it like this!

2. I also wondered about the power outages and whether Nathan was causing them to see if what Ava was telling Caleb during them were the test to see if Caleb trusted and believed Ava. I mean, what better test to see if a Robot is believable as a human than to have the robot convince you not to trust another human (your boss for that matter) and make you care about them instead.

I kind of lean towards Ava was actually causing them (otherwise the whole business about sneaking in the battery-powered camera seems like it would have been a lot of foresight and effort.) But then that leads naturally to my question of why was Nathan so comfortable having Ava be in control of the power like that?

(like completely - faking being drunk

The only problem here is he really did seem to be passed out drunk when Caleb stole his card. Perhaps that was the only time he was actually drunk? I would really like to think that the director didn't "cheat" by showing all of that sleeping couch footage when Caleb wasn't even in there.

I think they, like me, predicted a bunch of different scenarios and endings... and it just so happened that one of them turned out to be the way it ended so they claimed it to be predictable... which is bullshite.

Amen.

I liked it a lot but i really do not understand the helicopter pilot at the end just picking up Ava and being cool with it. Like it was stated that he would pick up Caleb and no mention of him being surprised or anything is made. Other than that I thought it was good but not great. Thought Caleb was kind of hard to believe when it came to his decision making too

To me, that was neither here nor there. They clearly set it up on the ride in as the helicopter guy being very "on the outside" in terms of access to Nathan. I assume the contract is just "show up here at these times and pick up/drop off whichever cast of characters happens to be present, no questions asked". There's certainly no reason to assume that any given helicopter guy believes (or has knowledge of) his contract being exclusive. For all we know, in the past, this guy has picked up drunken hookers 50 times from the same field.

What's an example?

With all of the AI stuff going on, I thought about this film that came out in 2014, and here we are nearly a 10 years later living out what went in to Ava’s development. It’s explained in this scene…

How Ava was created
