We were. Those kids played hard and not just in that game. They did not beat the Russians that night for the gold, but they still won it. Great team, great coach. They werent some scrub team that just got lucky.

That's still my favorite story. Herb Brooks walking into the locker room before they played Finland and saying "If you lose this game, you will take it to your fricking graves."
Had the US lost that game, since the medal round was pool play, the Soviets would have won the gold.
