Emilia Clarke Joins the Han Solo Stand-Alone Film

StarWars.com is excited to announce that Clarke, known for her stirring portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, will join the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie. Clarke’s role will round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures.
Clarke joins Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover — previously cast as Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, respectively — in the highly-anticipated film, which is set prior to the original Star Wars trilogy.
The untitled Han Solo movie, helmed by directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, is set for release in 2018.

I don't understand the Star Wars stuff. How many movies are they making? Are they random as hell? What's this new one coming out and why don't I recognize anyone from it?

I am not a fan of this Han Solo stuff. What makes his character great is the mystery that surrounds him.

I figured they were putting out 3 more movies in the story and using the same characters. I can't keep up with any of this now. I can't even tell if some of this stuff is part of Star Wars. I'm legit confused as hell

I mean really, right? Who would want to take a universe that spawned what, 200 novels or so and make films? To tell any of the stories that could be told in this universe about other things than the Skywalkers? With an IP that's finally free from Lucas' control worse than Tommy and the truck during the sales pitch of Tommy Boy?
Sorry I'm not sorry. I've read just about every EU book written, many of them about a whole host of characters that became central figures in the canon that have never seen screen time. There are so many stories to be told.
I really want a Rogue Squadron movie.
