I never realized it but the movie turns from fish out of water comedy to dark tragedy at the exact mid-point of the movie. That's when Joy tries to rape him and Jim sets him up. It's a shame that Burton doesn't make original films anymore like this.

My aunt let me watch this when I was 4 or 5. Scared me to the point that I couldn't walk down the aisle where this movie was at Blockbuster.
