One sec.. Hit enter too soon..
Watched this last night knowing nothing about it and was thoroughly entertained.
How many times do you think Tom had to die in that movie?
Had to be damn near infinite to get all that shite right and to keep building on his progress huh? Even when he got past parts he had died a lot previously, he would find more and more challenges, so he had to relive all the shite that got him to that point to begin with, and I'm sure many times he couldn't always get back to his furthest progression without dying prematurely due to a mistake

Didn't they say how many times he died at one point? It was like a full year of deaths or more. I can't remember.
All I know is that the writer of this film had clearly been playing too much Demon's Souls.

I'm guessing between 500 and 600.
ETA:
Now factor in the time spent with the training and getting to the farm, etc...
10 to 15 years is not out of the question.
I have watched this movie at least 5 times and I freakin' love it.

Also, Rita says she had it but lost it. How does she actually know that? She, and Cruise, said they could feel it leave, but there's no way to know for certain other than to die, which they obviously hadn't done.

Think how many times he had to die on the beach to try and get them off of there, but couldn't find a way. Then when he did, there was the helicopter farmhouse part where he can't save the girl, and he said he tried a lot. But he still had to go through the beach everytime to even get to that point, which after many many tries he would be able to master, but it would take a shite load of tries to not only master that for himself, but to keep the girl alive as well. shite was crazy
Edit. Then add in all the training he did with the girl and all the times he died doing that... But I guess once he mastered the training he could just skip that part in the future since it sticks with him?

damn near 1,000 times
They did screw up though. When they finally got the info from the General, he should have reset right then. Could start a new day fresh with all of the knowledge he needed instead of getting into the car chase that ultimately ends his ability to reset.

Agree 100%. He should have been using suicide as a save progress feature.

Doesn't he mention a "lifetime" or something at one point? I saw it in theaters so it's been awhile, but watching it soon and it's on preorder for me. It's that dang good.

I was high out of my mind so this movie was such a mind frick for me. I can't remember everything because I was getting so lost in the fact that he had to die so many times in that movie to keep on progressing. Was a real mind crunch and was cool as hell.
