Anybody else found this to be nothing more than an unofficial Evil Dead sequel?

I found it funny as shite, entertaining, and not at all scary.

Bad in a GREAT way...

Same Raimi-esque movie true, but no hero "fighting" the dead.

Different kind of flick, but some similarities:
-old woman that won't die
-some ritual to stop events from happening
-plenty of spooks on the way to a quick laugh

I wish Sam would quit making bad Spiderman movies and get back to some Evil Dead type flicks. Need a few more classic lines like this:

swallow this

little goody two-shoes

THIS IS MY BOOMSTICK! (and others)

Made me jump at a few parts, other than that kind of stupid.

You do know that Raimi made this one... right?

Yes.

Maybe "Evil Dead - esque" would have been a better way to phrase it.

Terrible bad in a sort of good way, I mean it's no mega shark vs giant octopus.

Not I.

The Evil Dead movies were fantastic. This movie was good. Apart from 1 or 2 scenes, it could have been Wes Craven...admit it.

SPOILER:
The bile & other juices eructing forth from the old woman into the girl's mouth was great.

He did this with Drage Me To Hell. Seemed as if you didn't realize it was Raimi.
