Dr Who Christmas Special

I thought this was the weakest one in a while. Interesting tying in the last Christmas special with Nardool. Not sure I'm gonna like the next companion based off the previews at the end.

It will be hard to follow Amy/Rory and Clara. Easily the best companions. Should be interesting to see what happens.

I have it taped but haven't watched it yet. Hopefully it's better than last year's, which I really disliked.

Whaaaaaaat? Husbands of River Song was easily my favorite Christmas special since Doctor Witch and Wardrobe.
Haven't watched this one yet. Have it recorded. Looks weird AF, but I'm just excited for some new Who.

Yep. Same here. That's why this year's was disappointing to me. Doctor Witch and Wardrobe is easily my favorite.

I still have only seen a few minutes, but was the Doctor trying to get Amy and Rory back at the beginning? It would make sense since he's got to be lonely these days. It seemed like he was trying to repair the temporal disturbance in New York.

I thought it was rather weak as well - though Peter Capaldi is finally starting to grow on me. I hope he stays for a long time.

This one was definitely one of the weakest Christmas specials. I really like Peter Capaldi's Doctor, but it seemed like Moffat was just going for cheap superhero movie laughs without an actually compelling plot.
Also, it was weird seeing FIFA 17's Alex Hunter as a CEO/alien host

I dont' know if it's Capaldi I don't like or if the writing has gotten weaker and or more heavy handed, but for whatever reason I haven't been able to get into it since PC took over.

I wasn't sure about Capaldi at first, but I actually like the cranky old man Doctor. Also, I consider "Heaven Sent" to be one of the best episodes of Doctor Who ever, and Capaldi's performance had everything to do with that.

Capaldis first season was uneven and I'm convinced it was because they were using episode scripts that were intended for Matt Smith. A lot of them just didn't fit what Capaldi was doing.
This past season really fit his Doctor, though, and it was one of my favorite seasons of the show overall. His War Speech in the second Zygon episode is amazing. It gives me chills every time.
Capaldi is fantastic.
Still haven't seen this special because my DVD cropped out and didn't record it while I was on vacation.

Also, nobody has an opinion on him trying to save Amy and Rory this Christmas?

I liked the Christmas special well enough. Thought it was better than last year's -- the last 10-15 minutes of last year's totally saved it.
I feel like Capaldi is like Leonard Fournette. He's great, but he's being let down by the material. I thought huge chunks of last season were a chore to get through, although Heaven Sent was great. (I rewatched most of Capaldi's first season and thought it held up. The only thing I've watched again from the past season was Heaven Sent and the Zygon speech) I'm really ready for Steven Moffat to go. He did some great stuff -- Blink, Silence in the Library, the first Matt Smith season, the 50th Anniversary episode -- but his cutesy shite (the Master regenerating into a woman), overly convoluted plotting (please summarize the events of Matt Smith's second season in less than 500 words. You can't.) and wild, illogical plot swings have worn thin.
Don't get me started on all the shite with the Doctor looking for Gallifrey, being tortured for billions of years to protect the planet, getting to Gallifrey and walking away from it. Or how the Doctor was wracked with guilt for wiping out the Time Lords, then deciding they were bad dudes who deserved to go.
