well since swamp people is a reality show and waterboy is a fictional movie your argument seems flawed

Shut down Dominic Monaghan's twitter for glorifying off-hand unfounded accusations about former co-stars.

Exactly these people father's before them did this and people are saying they are an embarrassment to Louisiana. Yes I'm embarrased for people who wake up early and bust their arse all day to make a living.

This was my argument. Forget what I said about Waterboy if you want to go that route.

Do you think the show offers an even-handed portrayal of the culture you are talking about?

I don't think it takes a biased interpretation to get the idea that the characters on all of these "hard life" reality shows are being painted as superficial goofballs. The kinds of stereotypes that people can easily identify and chuckle at.

If these are real people, then why do they have no real depth beyond their catch phrases and silly mannerisms?

when one fails use someone else's huh?

i dont think anyone is talking about their work ethic. its the emphasis put on the way they talk and the culture trying to make us look like unevolved nimwits that bugs me.

when i meet people from outta state and once my accent flows from my mouth the conversation immediately goes to stereotypical topics such as crawfish alligators and living in swamps, the "choot em" gets thrown out way too much for my sanity also

eta: also how is throwing out jersey shore making a difference here. thats like saying this food taste like shite but they have food that taste like shite in new york too so its ok

have you ever met an Italian and thought to yourself is this guy in the Mob?

We all have stereotypes of others and they have been around before Swamp People

Yall are so butt hurt. If he would have came out and said hunters should stop killing deer like some believe you would not take his side. Being that you hate Swamp People show's your bias.

The reason I started this thread was to show how he believes we are hurting animals for no reason. You are against this because you hate this show.

never said they originated from swamp people but the popularity of it is reinforcing it throughout the land.

why should topics of crawfish and the swamps make you embarrassed that's a part of our state. Hunting alligators is apart of our state too.
