Yea they get you with the boxes, etc. I'm spending $32 just simply on the DVR boxes. Even if I were to get the most basic DirecTV package, it would still be in the $70-$80 range to start off with.

another option is to use a proxy server and then you can buy espn360 for a day/month/season by making it look like you are in europe.

b) borrow someone's espn360 acct. This works, but is a little scummy
c) go to a friends house to watch those games. If you have lots of LSU (or Iowa fans) like I do, this is pretty easy to do. Someone else is watching the game and usually they love company.

I use the inlaws 360 account, it's pretty good, but can be hit or miss with buffering. Also, it sucks to watch a game when you are getting text updates and are 45 seconds behind.

Most away games I watch with friends anyways.

I don't watch much ESPN. I was only concerned with the local sports channels and Fox Sports South.

I got rid of it a month ago and it's been great. I'm doing more stuff outside and whatnot. I'm slightly concerned what it will be like when football starts. Because of that, I've been looking into Direct TV. Will see how September goes and then reassess.

i turn off my phone during games to avoid this, but that is a legacy from my tivo owning days.

As do I. mentally its hard to watch sports with a delay though.

I will sometimes watch in standard def just to be current.

The other crappy part is that I still have a year left on my DirecTV subscription and they will probably charge like $300 for early cancellation fees

I havent had cable in about 3-4 years now. I'll never go back.

Mohu Leaf Plus antenna gives me all the local channels in hd.

I have high speed internet and
Netflix
Amazon Prime
HBO Go
watchESPN

how do you have WatchESPN if you don't have a cable provider?

I worried about SEC Network, big time. I have a feeling that if I don't set up Cox that I'm going to be completely screwed on watching LSU road games. I won't be able to just wake up on a saturday and watch whatever's on. I'll miss the Saints when they're in prime time. I have rabbit ears right now and they suck. I would hope the leaf is better.

How do you watch LSU road games? How do you watch LSU baseball? How do you watch Hornets games? How do you watch college football? How do you watch Saints games that aren't on Fox, NBC, or CBS?

if you are in NOLA, I am going to bet that they will put the game on broadcast. they do in denver.

I am pretty sure there is a NFL rule that says all local games are shown on broadcast tv.

i really haven't had a problem watching games that I want to watch. It was nerve racking the first season but I discovered worst case you go to a bar.

This is MY personal dilemma here. I am a huge sports fan and would love to keep it so I can rewind/pause, etc. However, our cable bill is over $100 and I think in the long run I would be able to appreciate saving at least $1200 a year over being able to rewind/pause some sporting events every once in a while.

Baseball = $120 MLB.TV subscription and you get every game every single day.

Football = shite out of luck for ESPN games. You MUST get a high quality HD Antenna that will let you receive over the air broadcasts from all major network channels for free in 1080pHD. Here is a SITE that will show you major network tower locations and will allow you to gauge the power antenna you will need. An antenna like the Mohu Leaf 50 is amplified and will work for most situations. This will allow you to catch...
NFL - Noon Fox game, CBS 3:00pm game, NBC Sunday Night Game for free. Go to a friends house for Monday Night Football. As for SEC football games, you will get the typical game of the wk at the 2:15 (?) slot on CBS but if LSU or Georgia is playing on ESPN youre screwed. We are just getting into cutting the cord so havent gone through a sports season yet. I estimated we will save over $1500 a year by cancelling Cox and are still able to watch just about anything (and alot more) with HD Antenna & Hulu+ so far streaming through a Roku 3. I figured that MNF wasnt worth $1500, but I may change my tune in the middle of Fantasy Football season

No cable here. I watch everything via Primewire or other websites. I have access to Sunday Ticket for the saints and will go to a bar to watch LSU.

How without a cable subscription. All of the people saying they have access to this or that, you need to explain in depth on how you are doing it or it will be assumed you are full of shite.
