Getting Colbert and not moving Ferguson to the 10:30 slot? They got Corden out of it, but could have had Ferguson and Corden.

Corden deserves to be on at 11:30.

I think Ferguson wasn't interested in doing his show any more. He's moved on to other things.

He got a $5 million dollar bonus because he wasn't selected to be the host of the Late Show.

I think he would have done it and been spectacular.

Colbert is funny in 3 to 5 minute chunks. Whoever thought he was a long-term solution hosting his own show, in or out of his conservative, Bill O'Reilly satire, was self-delusional.

Ferguson played that right then because heard a podcast (neediest I think) where he said he was burnt out on doing the show. Wanted to explore other options

Colbert is impossible to watch. Takes himself and his opinions way too seriously

That was the biggest surprise for me: that his Colbert Report persona was so close to his real personality. I couldn't take the switch from Letterman's self-deprecating humor to Colbert's smugness.

But I don't think that Ferguson could've cut it at the earlier hour. His show was further in left field than Letterman's NBC show. The general masses would've flocked to Fallon in even greater numbers.

I don't fault Colbert for wanting to challenge the form a little bit. It didn't work, but at least he tried.

Corden does well but he's a Fallon clone. Viral videos with celebrities ad nauseam.
