Maybe if she surprises him, she is skilled in surprise and deception. Brienne was under the assumption she was pretty novice. She shouldn't hold her own in a go mode battle. If she does, that is as retarded as terminator waif.

Why would they duel?

I dont even think Jon is that great of a swordsman. He's probably tops though cause all the best ones are now dead or have a gold hand.

The point of that scene was that Arya is just as good as Syrio now. I think she takes Brienne regardless

The only way this story has an end is with Jon sitting on the iron throne. Otherwise it continues in perpetuity.
