So as I was getting to the end of the episode I thought "Damn! This was a good, damned episode! I hope this is a sign of things to come."
Then I watched the "Inside Look" during one of the final commercial breaks and saw that Neil Gaiman wrote it. I was and at the same time.

Only thing that pissed me off was when the Tardis told Rory that they should find the old console room.
I was hoping it would be from the old school Who and not just a replica of the new who console room. That tease disappointed me. Otherwise this season overall has been much better than last.

On the blurb during the commercial break, the chick that plays Amy Pond said that was the actual control room from the Tennant years, not a replica. It would have been nice to see the old Baker-era room, but I'm guessing it was tossed onto a scrap heap years ago and it would have been more costly to build than it was to un-mothball the Tennant set.

Such a great, funny, sad episode.
Matt Smith is gold in it.

I recognized the tennant control room right off. I was excited for this one cause I'm reading American gods right now.
Who is getting a bit darker and I'm loving it.

The old control rooms were tiny. It was pretty cheap of them not to build an old console room. It would have been a nice shout out to old who.
Also should have shown a little more than just corridors.
I love The Invasion Of Time because they showed the inside of the tardis.

Agreed. I did like how they used time to screw with Amy though. Props, Mr. Gaiman... props

Let me guess - You wanted to see the swimming pool, right?
... or perhaps you would have been satisfied with a brief glimpse of Amy and Rory's awesome bunk beds (Doctor sez the honeymoon's over).

I've seen that. I think they showed the pool in Invasion of Time.
However I think he said he deleted the pool to have extra power to get out of the universe.

Dunno about the pool - but Amy and Rory's bedroom got wiped.

He did, but just like rebuilding Amy & Rory's bedroom he should probably be able to rebuild the pool.

FWIW, I read somewhere that the set for this episode was one of the most expensive of the season. The junkyard/TARDIS graveyard was spectacular.
That episode was literally one of the best Who episodes I've ever seen. A little scary, a little funny and a whole lot of heart. Also, I loved the little Gaiman nuances. Calling the inhabitants of the universe "Auntie" and "Uncle" and "Nephew" was a nice/creepy touch. I'm not going to lie, I teared up a little at the end when she said "I just wanted to say hello."

Once again that proves my point that they should have tossed a few coins toward a tiny tardis console room.
This episode did cost a bunch. It was actually scheduled to be shot last season, but due to budgetary constraints it was moved to this season.
You would think that with the money saved from the 49 times they have used the Daleks even though they were supposedly wiped out 48 times, they could have sprung for an old timey console just to please old time who fans. Once again, I doubt it would have cost much compared to the other effects.
Didn't say I hated the episode, just felt a bit cheated when the tardis said to head to the old console room.
I am thrilled to this point we haven't had Daleks or Cybermen stuffed down our throats. In the 5 seasons of new who they have reused those 2 aliens probably more than the previous entire who history so I pray they don't come back this season.
I think I read somewhere that the licensing for Daleks ran out last season so maybe they won't renew it. The BBC doesn't actually own the rights to certain aliens in the Whoverse which is odd.

True. They did say no Daleks this season. Praise Gallifrey.

I really like Idris getting telepathic with 'the pretty one' and Rory acting like 'WTF is going on here'. I think this episode will be revisited several times later due to all the off handed comments...great attention to detail by the writers. Still want to know who the 'metal eyed lady' is at the door too.
