Do people really think Brandon Lee would have been a good actor?

I watched The Crow last night for the first time in years and that movie is awful. I've seen Lee's name brought up in a few threads about potential good actors lost but what exactly has he done to make anyone think he had a chance?

It wasn't his acting chops.

The guy just had "it"

Not even trying to be a dick but what film made you think he had "it."

If he wouldn't have died you likely wouldn't even know his name as The Crow wouldn't have been such a cult film

His career probably would have bit into Keanu's action roles.

It wasn't like Bruce was a great actor either, but people loved his movies.

The movie industry is filled with people that can't act worth a shite, but they always find work.

He would have been a successful action persona. Hard to say that he would have been a particularly good actor. We'll never know, will we?

Brandon Lee was a better actor than Leonardo Dicaprio at that time. Have you ever seen Man in the Iron Mask?

The reason people say what they say about Brandon Lee was two fold (I studied the Lees alot growing up).

1. He had an incredible passion for acting and wanted to be the best. He knew he wasn't there but was going to do what ever it took to perfect the craft - and people took him at his word because he had his daddy's passion and drive (aka Bruce Lee).

2. He just landed The Crow which was a pretty big deal at the time and that put him on a fantastic trajectory (especially in the early 90's).

Basically, anyone paying attention could see the train coming.

yeah this was the 90s. we still had traditional "action stars" back then

he was on his way to becoming a major action star, which doesn't requires good acting

and the crow isn't awful what the frick?

The Crow was a great movie and the soundtrack rocked.

When did The Crow become an awful movie? If anything it's one of the best cult classic films of all time. WTF?

The Crow was pretty big in the 90's mostly because it was a pretty good film and the soundtrack had all of the hot early 90's Seattle bands. Once the whole " Grunge thing " lost popularity it turned into a cult movie. IMO Lee was not that impressive as an actor, just garnered a lot of fame for dying during filming....

Compared to its sequels it looks like a masterpiece. The imagery was the best part of the original. Had a nice concept but overall poor delivery.
