Disney announces release dates for Star Wars Ep IX and several others

Disney and Lucasfilm have booked a date in theaters for Colin Trevorrow's Star Wars: Episode IX — May 24, 2019.
The studio announced a slew of other high-profile release dates. Disney is pushing back the release of the next Indiana Jones movie by a full year, from July 19, 2019 to July 10, 2010, in order to make way for The Lion King, which gets the July 19 date, while Frozen 2 will hit theaters Nov. 27, 2019.

First week or so will be huge. When the new Transformers/Marvel/DC/Pixar movie comes out two weeks later they will see a big drop in sales.

Competition? It's all about the merchandising at this point. They want to own as many Christmas buying seasons as possible.

Doesn't make sense to me why they would move it. I was for sure they released it around Christmas time to coincide with toy sales. Maybe they feel they have enough clout to pull it off at summer and add blue-ray/Digital sales for Christmas time. Who am I to say Disney knows how to print money for sure.

my guess is it won't be ready by Dec 2018 and they want to get it out as soon as possible.
They also have to manage releasing the star wars movies with the MCU too.
I think disney knows what they are doing.

Dec 2018 will be the Han Solo movie. Time shouldn't be an issue here.

Han solo movie was always for may 2018
Force awakens and last jedi were supposed to be may releases. They got pushed back. They have been working on the script for IX for like 3 years and it just was completed. They shoot in July. They want to get star wars back to may.

I hope they keep the climatic finale where Rey fights Kylo on Starkiller Base II, refuses to kill him and he repays her by throwing Snoke down a really long shaft as he's torturing her to death with Force lightning.
