Did HIMYM eff up by telling you Ted didn't marry Robin in the first episode?

Every time there after when there was Ted/Robin drama you knew they didn't get married so it was just a waste of time.

The Office was so popular because of the Jim/Pam Season 1.2.3 drama.

HIMYM really screwed the pooch with that one.

They screwed up getting Robin and Barney together. Worst tv decision ever.

I think so for the reason you mentioned.

Should've avoided pointing it out and he could've gone on for two seasons talking about her like he was the kids mother, then when they break up, he drops the line "And that woman is your Aunt Robin."

Also hates how they pretty much have guaranteed the mother is a brunette (from what I've seen, I'm about halfway through season 7 now). Ruined suspense when Ted was dating Stella and Zoey.

I always thought that was pretty dumb as well. Why pidgen hole yourself like that. At the very least hold out to use something like that later down the line

A friend of mine was convinced that they would end up together still, there are a lot of those people out there.

I told him the only way that the show could say Aunt Robin and for Ted and Robin to end up together was for them to take a shite on the fanbase at the end and basically have Ted ask the kids "oh, you thought that was Robin? No this is your Aunt Robin>" and show another woman and have ted and Cobie Smulders end together. sounds stupid but that would have been the only way they could have shoe horned anything like that in.

I would be all for this btw.

And its not like the writers dont shite on the fanbase like that on an everyday basis. Atleast that ending would give a point to the countless number of times Ted has pined for robin.

I've watched the reruns/syndicated episodes semi-regularly but I guess I had never seen the first episode.

I would have enjoyed the show much less if I had known this all along.

I don't get what this means.

Those people are pretty dumb, then. I feel it was pretty cut and dry.

basically that Cobie Smulders wasn't Robin the whole time but the kids pictured her that way.
