‘Degrassi’ Picked Up by Netflix After TeenNick Cancellation

“Degrassi” will get a new home on Netflix in 2016, after the long-running Canadian teen drama ends its run this summer on cable TV.
The streaming provider announced on its Twitter feed Tuesday that “the next class” of “Degrassi” will be coming to Netflix next year.
Netflix said the new series, “Degrassi: Next Class,” will continue the show’s pull-no-punches approach to portraying the lives of high-school kids and telling the stories of Generation Z. The series focuses on a group of teens on the brink of adulthood, dealing with issues including homophobia, racism, substance abuse, violence, sexuality, body issues — and the complications of dating in the social-media age. The series will continue to be produced by Toronto-based Epitome Pictures.
Over the course of more than 350 episodes, “Degrassi: The Next Generation” has followed the trials and tribulations of the teens at Degrassi Community School. The franchise dates back to the early ’80s, when “The Kids of Degrassi Street” aired as a series of CBC TV after-school specials.

Used to watch it way back in the day. My Canadian friends used to make fun of it a good bit. 
I'm curious how many people [besides Drake] from that show made it big.

I've seen every episode of the next generation since it started airing on "The N" in 2002. I'm glad it got picked up by Netflix (finally it will be shown in HD). In Canada it got picked up by another TV station, after being cancelled by MTV Canada as well.
