So, I caught up on this after 3-4 episodes and was going to start a thread, but noticed there wasn't one.

Figured, ehhh, I'll wait till it's over. Finished yesterday.

It was a somewhat interesting whodunit with a bunch of awful people. reminded me of knives out to some degree.

but... it just fell flat. it was kinda wild that they said there was 1 episode left.. but then they had another one that was unlisted on Hulu or Wikipedia.

felt like it had 5 endings that were just unnecessarily escalating. which was similar to the end of every episode. i get shows like this have to end in cliff hangers, but every cliffhanger completely changed the dynamic of the show and it just didn't vibe with me.

i didn't hate it by any means. it was nice time killer but it had none of the charm of Knives Out or Only Murders and none of the gravitas of Mare of East Town, Killing, or True Detective.

6/10. and just because i really like whodunits.

ETA: two thoughts.

the ship owner was straight up an Indian John Krasinski.

Good to see Winn Duffey still working and essentially a lawyer now.

I was waiting for it to finish so I could binge. Do you think I should even bother? I'm out of new stuff.

I’m glad I watched it. Interesting dynamics and terrible people. Lot of twists if that’s your thing.

Conclusion wasn’t overly satisfying, but I’ve wasted more time on much worse shows.

If you’re not interested after 2 or 3 episodes then you’re good to dip.

appreciate the post - I had not heard of the show, but you have me mildly intrigued - I will give it a shot.

Hope you like it. I feel like I should give a few details.

An antique cruise ship is rented out by a retiring tycoon (Collier) that is about to name his successor. Brings on his partners and family along with a family of a business that he’s about to merge with.

One member is a woman adopted by the Colliers. Her mom worked for the Colliers and was murdered so they adopted her and hired a(Hercules Peirot type) PI to solve her murder. He never did and happens to be on the ship as well. She hates him for abandoning the case and her.

Then somebody gets murdered on the ship.

We haven't finished the last 2 episodes yet, but it's been pretty good. I feel like they tried too hard to insert too many twists into the plot, which makes it a little hard to follow. I think 6-7/10 is about right- Not all time great, but worth watching.

this was my main "gripe." the twists weren't bad. some of them were actually kinda cool because the twist and the end of every episode pretty much changed the backstory of what you thought of certain characters.

Fun, but became a bit tropey.

We barely got through the first episode. Thought the acting was bad and the writing was worse and haven’t watched since. Does it get better?

Did you watch A Murder at the End of the World? It was on Hulu about a month or so ago. It was about on the same level as this - Clive Owen played an Elon Musk type. A locked room whodunit. It was set in Iceland and it looked pretty good...they really shot it there so there wasn't too much bullshite CGI.

I saw it advertised in the things you may like because you watched this. Didn’t know much about it but may check it out.

Thanks for the recommend.

I didn’t really pay much attention to Death and Other Details, my wife had it on. But it didn’t seem as good as a Murder at the End of the World

I finished it last night. I was really into it and liked all the twist, but it got to a point to where I just wanted to know who victor Sam’s was. The last episode was a bit ridiculous and I take it with the ending there will be a second season

it reminded me of GoT finale. the big reveal/event was in the penultimate episode and the finale was just falling action. but they decided to keep twisting and turning in the final episode instead.

again. liked it. will watch a second season, but a bit mehish.

We're 7 episodes in, and apparently Hulu doesn't sync between devices lately, so we accidently watched E7 before E6 when we switched to the bedroom from watching downstairs.

I'll chime back in once we finish, but I'm really enjoying it so far.

Man, I really enjoyed this series. I hope they follow through with another season.

Hey Hollywood, see what happens when you tell an original story?

Canceled by Hulu after one season

Terrible decision by Hulu, IMO. The characters that were left standing were great.
